The Cleveland Guardians look to have timed their run to perfection in the AL Central. They’re top of the division, and are heavy odds on favorites to win the title. Here we look at their chances of winning the title in our latest betting round up of all the MLB divisions.
There’s just over a couple of week’s worth of fixtures left, and the Guardians seem to have clicked at just the right time. They’re currently playing their closest rivals, the Chicago White Sox, and they know if they can win this series, it will go a long way to seeing them crowned AL Central division winners in 2022.

At the moment the best MLB betting sites still have a live betting market to win the AL Central. The Guardians are -1600 with BetOnline, with their closest rivals, the Chicago White Sox at +700. For the record, the Minnesota Twins are +10000.
The Twins look too far behind now. They are relying on not just one team, but two teams above them to blow up. And that’s highly unlikely to happen. Minnesota seemed to miss their final chance when they lost a four match mini series to the Guardians last weekend by three games to one. They had to reverse that scoreline just to give themselves a chance, and now, sitting eight wins behind the Guardians, it looks like their ship has sailed.
We’re calling it a two horse race now, and it’s a race clearly there for the taking for the Guardians. After a disappointing run of five defeats in a row to the Orioles and the Mariners (all at their Progressive Field home venue) at the turn of the month, the Guardians recovered brilliantly to win 12 of their next 15 games.
Across a similar period of time, the White Sox had a 9-4 record. And it’s these corresponding runs of results that has seen the Guardians open up the gap at the top of the table. On the flip side though, the run of five straight defeats for the Guardians, does show they have a losing streak in them. And it’s this that should keep White Sox backers well and truly interested.

After their mini series with the White Sox is over, the Guardians head to Texas for three games against the Rangers. This represents a great chance for Terry Francona’s team to consolidate their position. The Rangers are currently vying with the Angels for third place in the AL West, and they’re coming second in that battle. They should prove no obstacle for the Guardians.
The White Sox face the Detroit Tigers at the Guaranteed Rate Field over this weekend, and with the Tigers bottom of the AL Central, this is another mini series the White Sox will be expecting to win. To put it another way, if the White Sox can’t win this, they don’t deserve to challenge for the division, never mind winning it.
The Tigers have just beated the Orioles in a mini series, so they can’t be taken lightly. But it’s still a must win series for Tony La Russa’s team. After that, the White Sox travel to the Twins and then the Padres, so their run-in isn’t the easiest.
It’s hard to get excited about backing the Guardians at -1600, but they have to be the bet. Yes, they have a hiccup or two in them, but with the run-in the White Sox face, it would take a monumental effort to see them overtake Cleveland.
Backing at such short odds isn’t always advisable, and I would probably give this bet a miss myself. But for anybody out there who is looking to wager, it looks a safe bet.
Elsewhere in MLB division betting, and in the AL East the Yankees have a decent sized lead over the Blue Jays and the Rays, but there is still some life left in this division. As for the AL West, the Astros have a huge lead over the Mariners and have already won the title.
Over in the NL East, the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves are still slugging it out to win the table. New York has the edge in the table and in the betting, they are -225. As for Atlanta, they are +175. The two sides meet in a mini series at the end of the month. And that looks set to be the battle to settle this argument once and for all.
In the NL Central, the Cardinals look to already have a large enough lead over the Brewers. While in the NL West, the Dodgers clinched the title over a week ago.
