Following another controversial cycle in the news, former President of the United States Donald Trump has re-emerged as the favorite in the 2024 election. Despite an FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago home earlier this month, Trump remains the top contender for 2024, according to oddsmakers at BetUS. According to a recent post from BetUS, the former president has been able to weather the recent storm brought on by the astounding raid at his residence. As the article pointed out, this would maybe seem like a major red flag by the Justice Department, but it appears that “Teflon Don” has some more tricks up his sleeve

For this article, SBS will break down this recent update from BetUS and also some more thoughts and notes about the website.

BetUS favoring Trump over Biden in the next election cycle

Per the report from BetUS, Trump’s odds of winning the election in 2024 did take a hit after the FBI raid, falling from +225 to +275. However, these odds are still better for Trump than that of current sitting president Joe Biden who is currently favored at +375 to stay in the White House another four years. According to the BetUS report, a $100 bet on Biden right now would pay out to $475, whereas a $100 win for Trump would net a customer $375.

Following Trump and Biden, BetUS oddsmakers have rounded out their top four with two well-known political powerhouses in Florida governor Ron DeSantis and current Vice President Kamala Harris. Actually, both of these candidates are tied at +700 odds. According to one source from BetUS, these betting odds actually might be a pretty good indicator of who will win in 2024

Betting odds have proven to be an uncanny predictor of election results,” said Barry Barger, a senior betting analyst at BetUS.  “Oddsmakers set the starting odds, but the odds are constantly adjusted to reduce risk to the sportsbook by balancing the bets placed amongst the various candidates,” Barger said. “ If someone puts money on a candidate to win, it is pretty safe to assume that is the candidate they are going to vote for, as well.  And as it stands, the money is on a Trump return to the White House.  It’s really an amazing way of polling.”

BetUS includes a full run-down of candidates for 2024 election

Also included in this report was a full list of 27 candidates who have betting odds related to them for the 2024 United States Presidential Election. Some of the notable names on this list include former Vice President Mike Pence (+2000), former First Lady Michelle Obama (+2000), and democratic party poster woman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (+7000). On the lower end of the ranking, spectrum are some other well-known political figures. This includes the likes of California governor Gavin Newsom (+10000), Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban (+10000), and Trump’s daughter, Ivanka (+15000)

The full list of candidates can be found at BetUS’ official website under their political futures tab.
