Aaron Judge is your 2022 AL MVP so far.
Has Aaron Judge already won 2022 AL MVP?

Early 2022 MLB futures bettors will be ecstatic if they invested in Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees winning the AL MVP award. For everyone else, we highly recommend heading over to the best betting sites for Major League Baseball before it’s too late.

Is this perhaps an overstatement on the odds for Aaron Judge to win 2022 AL MVP? Perhaps. There are still other worthy candidates like Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels and tantalizing dark horses such as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays. Overall, though, oddsmakers have shifted Judge from a better-than-even-money favorite to a more heavily weighted favorite.

Have a look at the latest odds to win 2022 AL MVP for yourself, which come courtesy of Bovada:

You can probably tell why we’re intrigued. Either Aaron Judge is the heavy favorite and there’s still a chance to capitalize on bettor-friendly -110 odds, or there’s another worthwhile candidate who would currently offer a lucrative payout.

Before we go any further, please remember to double-check these betting odds on MLB right up until you actually place your wagers. The winner of the 2022 AL MVP won’t be announced until after the season, and our odds on MLB futures are accurate entering games on Wednesday, July 6.

Whether you’re in the market for betting on the World Series or searching for the top legal sportsbooks in the United States, we have compiled all the information you will ever need.

Is Aaron Judge Still Undervalued in MLB AL MVP Betting?

Baseball MVP awards have a tendency of going to stars who hail from one of that particular season’s best teams. This bodes well for Aaron Judge. Many sportsbooks have pegged the Yankees as World Series favorites, and they are certainly the most popular bet to come out the American League even if you’re higher on the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres to win it all.

Of course, MVP cases can start to fall apart if the players in question don’t post the numbers to back it up—particularly for position players who take the field everyday and see their stats fall victim to protracted ruts. Judge doesn’t have to concern himself with that at the moment.

Nobody in the league has hit more home runs (29), and he’s batting .281 on the year, with an on-base percentage that exceeds that from New York Mets superstar Pete Alonso. To top it all off, Judge is playing some of the best defense of his career.

Our official recommendation is to pounce on the Yankees superstar while he’s still close to even money. There may be half a season left to play, but we don’t see these odds moving in an especially bettor-friendly direction.

Shohei Ohtani Still Has a Chance to Catch Aaron Judge in AL MVP Race

Shoehei Ohtani continues to be a revelation—so much so he should be seen as a viable challenger to Judge for the AL MVP award.

Indeed, Ohtani has seen some of his offensive metrics slip. But he’s still posting an on base plus slugging percentage right in line with that of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He has also launched more homers than Mookie Betts and notched more RBIs than Freddie Freeman.

This all says nothing of his work on the pitcher’s mound. That often isn’t taken into consideration for the MVP race, since the AL and NL have a Cy Young award. But it certainly matters.

Better AL MVP Bet: Mike Trout or Yordan Alvarez

It is kind of wild that the Angels have two legitimate MVP candidates in Ohtani and Mike Trout, but here we are.

Like Yordan Alvarez, Trout is laying +800 roughly halfway through the season. His RBIs are down, but he’s in the top five of homers and batting .273—an absurd mark for someone who angles to hit for power much of the time.

Still, Alvarez hasn’t shot up MVP ladders by mistake. He actually has more homers than Trout while batting a ridiculous .311 and posting the third highest on base percentage in the American League.

Furthermore, Alvarez has the benefit of being the most valuable player on a really good team in the Houston Astros. Trout doesn’t have that luxury with the Angels. He is in no way responsible for their lack of success, but another year outside the playoff picture will hurt his chances of winning 2022 AL MVP.

Official 2022 AL MVP Prediction

At times like this, when the margin for choosing is razor thin, we endorse defaulting to the best player on the best team.

That’s Aaron Judge.

Loads can still change. Definitely keep your eye on Jose Alvarez. The Astros continue to climb up the standings, and he is the heart and soul of their offense. If he keeps getting on base at his current pace, we could see his +800 shift to something resembling a co-favorite line next to Judge.

Then again, Judge has been on a season-long heater. No offensive player in baseball has been more valuable from start to finish. Unless he or the Yankees fall into an extended slump over the coming months, we believe voters will give him the AL MVP award running away—meaning it would be a wise decision to invest in his MLB futures betting lines now.
