An annual awards showcase, the Academy Awards honors the best in the film industry, and the upcoming showcase, the 98th edition, features some heavyweight contenders. Per sources, the Oscars are widely considered to be the most prestigious awards in the film industry. Noted at XBet, the category for Best Actor includes a variety of top contenders, with Timothee Chalamet for his role in Marty Supreme leading the way at -111. Meanwhile, the honor for best actress is another race that should have a lot of excellent contenders. However, Jessie Buckley in Hamnet (-360) seems to have a commanding lead here in the early going. The 98th Academy Awards will take place on March 15, 2026, so there is still a lot of time for these markets to shift and change.

For this report, SBS will be going over the latest gaming news coming from XBet, along with an excellent array of notes and information you can find only at SBS.

Chalamet has been on a heater for a sustained period now

Noted on the website, Marty Supreme is a sports comedy-drama film that is loosely inspired by American table tennis player Marty Reisman. Reisman was a staple in New York’s table tennis community for decades, known for his ability, flamboyant style, and flair as a showman. Additionally, he was the 1958 and 1960 U.S. Men’s singles champion and the 1997 U.S. hardbat champion. What’s interesting here is that the film is scheduled to be released in the United States by A24 on December 25, 2025, but premiered at the New York Film Festival back in October. At only 29 years of age, Chalamet’s accolades include a Screen Actors Guild Award, in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards, four British Academy Film Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and a Grammy Award.

Another stalwart in this category, “One Battle After Another,” is a 2025 American black comedy action thriller film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the main role. At +275, he is the main opponent to Chalamet in the best actor category. Inspired by the 1990 novel Vineland by Thomas Pynchon, the film follows an ex-revolutionary who is forced back into his former combative lifestyle when a corrupt military officer pursues him and his daughter. The film has received critical acclaim and grossed $202 million, becoming the highest-grossing film of Anderson’s career.

The final actor spotlight here is Dwayne Johnson (+750), who gave an outstanding performance in “The Smashing Machine” as former amateur wrestler and MMA fighter Mark Kerr. Another A24 film, the movie received generally positive reviews from critics, with Johnson’s performance receiving the most praise. Indeed, the man known as The Rock certainly has grown and bolstered his acting prowess since “The Scorpion King.”

Buckley leads the way following great showcase in Hamnet

Hamnet follows the marriage and close relationship between Anne Hathaway (Agnes Hathaway in the novel and film) and William Shakespeare, and the impact of the tragic death of their 11-year-old son Hamnet on their lives. This would go on to inspire the creation of Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. The film received widespread acclaim from critics, who have singled out Buckley’s performance

Another A24 film, Rose Byrne (+300) delivered an excellent performance in the American psychological drama film, “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.” The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 20225. At the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, Byrne won the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance. It received a domestic release on October 10, 2025. Byrne is an Australian actress whose accolades include two AACTA Awards, a Silver Bear, and a Volpi Cup, in addition to nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.

The final showcase on this list from XBet, Renate Reinsve at +500, is another excellent candidate in this category of Best Actress. After making her film debut in 2011, her breakout role came in “The Worst Person in the World,” a 2021 romantic drama directed by Trier, for which she won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress and was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a leading role. The film had its world premiere at the main competition of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where it received widespread critical acclaim and won the Grand Prix. It was then selected as the Norwegian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards, where the film received multiple nominations and category honors. Of course, this should be a stellar competition all around.
