One of the biggest sporting events on the planet is coming up this summer as the Olympic Games return to Paris for the first time in 100 years (1924). With that in mind, Xbet has gotten in on the fun by offering some preliminary Olympic betting markets pertaining to gold medals and overall medal counts for the countries. As of this article’s writing, Xbet has the USA as the strong favorite not only to win the most gold medals at the 2024 Summer Games (-500) but also the most medals overall (-2000). Of course, the Americans will have some stiff competition in this event from the likes of China (+300 gold medals) and also the host country, France, if they want to continue their winning ways on the world stage.

In this article, SBS will be going over the latest gaming news coming from Xbet along with some more notes and additional information regarding the Olympic Games.

America facing heaviest competition from China

The Americans have certainly earned this honor by notching the most medals at multiple Olympics throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Per one source, not only has America won the most gold medals and overall medals at the Summer Olympics, they have dominated this category. In terms of overall medals, the USA dwarfs all competitors in this category with 2,629 total medals. Keep in mind though, that this does account for America competing in 28 different Olympic Games while some other high-ranking countries have not been to as many. This includes the former Soviet Union which has 1,010 total medals, but of course, is no longer a single entity. Moreover, China is usually recognized as the biggest contender to America at the Olympics (+1000 to win total medals) and this is for good reason.

While only competing at 11 total Summer Olympic Games, China is already within the top six countries when it comes to total medals (636). What’s more, they are actually in the top four with 263 gold medals overall at the Olympics. Of the countries that are currently still active, only Great Britain (284) and the USA (1,061) are ahead of them. Beyond those contenders, France (+10000) has also competed at 29 Olympics and is thus in the top five for overall medals at 751. They also have 223 total gold medal wins at the Summer Olympic Games. That said, and while they are the host country, they just do not have the sheer numbers of the Americans or the Chinese for this event. That could change though on the gold medal side with the home crowd behind them.

Several dark horse countries could emerge in Paris

During the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, the United States and China again led the way in total medals with the USA at 113 and China at 89. They also were one and two when it came to gold medals with America notching a one-point win over the Chinese, 39 to 38. During this event though, there were a couple of other countries that performed well in the top five. This included Russia (71 total medals, third overall) and also Japan who scored the third most gold medals with 27. That said, Russia was not included in the latest Xbet betting markets, but Japan is currently positioned at +8000 to take home the crown as the nation with the most gold medals. Of the nations mentioned here, Xbet also has Italy in the mix at a long shot +20000 to take home the most gold medals.

Additionally, another outside contender dark horse here is Australia at +20000 per Xbet to take home the most overall medals. The Australians notched 46 medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics giving them a sixth overall finish at the event. Moreover, they also accrued 17 gold medals which was also good for sixth place.

America has typically been atop the overall medal standings

Per one source, the United States has won the Summer Olympic Games an astounding 18 times. This of course gives us some insights into why they are considered the strong favorite this summer. Moreover, the U.S. has also won more than half of all the medals won in the history of the Olympics. As noted above, they also have notched the most gold medals of any country as well. Meanwhile, the former Soviet Union won the Summer Olympics six times, and France, Great Britain, Germany, China, and the Unified Team have each won once.
