Over in the Sooner State, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is upping the ante on casino resorts through a new partnership with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Per sources, the organizations are teaming up in a deal that would bring four tribal casinos under the Wyndham Rewards umbrella. Wyndham, the world’s largest hotel franchising company, with approximately 8,300 hotels across 100 countries on six continents, is expanding its portfolio with four Choctaw Casino & Resorts properties. Choctaw’s flagship Choctaw Casino & Resort Durant becomes part of the Wyndham Grand program, while the tribe’s three casino resorts in Hochatown, Pocola, and Grant become part of the Trademark Collection by Wyndham.

For this article, SBS will be going over the latest gaming news coming from Oklahoma, along with a variety of other notes and information you can only find at SBS.

Wyndham excited about future growth of the partnership

Per the same report, Choctaw retains ownership and management of the four hotels. Wyndham Rewards has more than 120 million enrolled members. “This aspirational affiliation represents everything today’s travelers are asking for,” Geoff Ballotti, president and CEO of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, said in an article. “(This includes) exciting destinations, distinctive experiences, and more meaningful ways to connect with the places they love. By welcoming Choctaw’s remarkable casinos and resorts to Wyndham, we are expanding what our brands and our Wyndham Rewards program can offer.”

For this collaboration, Choctaw retains ownership and management of the four hotels. Additionally, Wyndham Rewards has more than 120 million enrolled members. Also, Choctaw operates non-hotel casinos in Broken Bow, McAlester, Idabel, and Stringtown.

Partnership growth continues for Wyndham Hotels

Wyndham Hotels and Caesars Entertainment struck a partnership in 2017 that allowed Caesars Rewards and Wyndham Rewards members to match statuses and transfer points. The companies have since renewed and extended the relationship, allowing Wyndham Rewards members to book casino hotel stays across the country, including in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Furthermore, the Choctaw casinos in Durant, Grant, and Hochatown are just north of the Texas border. The Pocola casino is just west of the Arkansas border. Texas does not have commercial casinos, and tribal casinos cannot offer Las Vegas-style slot machines or live-dealer table games.

Furthermore, per the report, Wyndham’s deal with Choctaw highlights the growth of the tribal gaming market. According to the National Indian Gaming Commission, tribal casinos generated record gross gaming revenue of $43.9 billion in the 2024 fiscal year, the most recently disclosed 12-month filing. The Oklahoma City market, inclusive of tribal casinos in western Oklahoma and Texas, accounted for $3.2 billion. The Tulsa market, inclusive of eastern Oklahoma and Kansas, accounted for $3.6 billion. Wyndham says its Choctaw alignment highlights the growth of regional gaming destinations. Ballotti called the Oklahoma tribal gaming industry among the “country’s fastest-growing gaming markets.”

Choctaw Casinos increasing presence in the region

Additionally, the four Choctaw casino resorts coming under the Wyndham umbrella collectively offer nearly 2,000 guestrooms. The largest, the Durant property, is located only 90 minutes north of Dallas-Fort Worth, the article points out. Moreover, Choctaw Casino and Resort Durant features over 1,600 hotel rooms and suites across multiple towers. The destination is anchored by one of the world’s largest gaming facilities, featuring more than 7,400 slot machines and 100 table games

Also, the article points out, Choctaw Casinos and Resorts is a major sponsor of the MLB’s Texas Rangers, NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, and the Dallas Stars of the NHL. The tribal casino company is also an Official Dallas World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter. Dallas icons who have appeared in Choctaw marketing include Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez. Indeed, with this new casino expansion, it will be fascinating to see how the growth of these two partners impacts the region as a whole

Of course, noted above, the Choctaw casinos have a longstanding impact on the citizens of Texas and how they interact with gaming in the southern portion of the United States. With widespread gaming not yet quite legalized in portions of the country, native casino brands like the Choctaw have been the primary outlet for these activities. With this kind of partnership on the table and given the previous pairing between Wyndham and Caesars, the brands are setting themselves up for success in the region as they continue to grow their market share. Of course, there is always the looming update regarding legalized gaming across not only Oklahoma but Texas as well. However, it remains to be seen when that will actually come to pass, and how much money and resources it will take for that to happen.
