Picks & Analysis For The 2022 Shriners Children’s Open Golf Tournament

This upcoming weekend, the PGA Fed-Ex 500 event circuit will head to sunny Las Vegas for the 2022 Shriners Children’s Open. For this event, the PGA will send some of its top players to do battle at the TPC at Summerlin course in the desert. Currently, some of the best players in the world are expected to take part in this event like Patrick Cantlay, Sungjae Im, Max Homa, Aaron Wise, Taylor Montgomery, and Tom Kim just to name a few. However, these six main golfers are currently slated as the names to beat at this tournament.

For this article, SBS will be going over what to expect from the six players selected below and if one of those athletes can beat the field in this competition. Cantlay, Im, or Homa vs. The Field (1/2): (The field is favored at -234)

As one of the more senior players in the field, Cantlay brings a lot of recent winning energy to the table. In August, he successfully defended his title at the BMW Championship which gave him his eighth total PGA Tour victory. Moreover, the 30-year also won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open back in 2017. Also in 2022, Cantlay was able to qualify for the 2022 Presidents Cup match play tournament where he won three and one of the four matches he played.

Also in the field is Homa who has been one of the hottest players on tour as of late and is also a burgeoning social media star. The native of Burbank, Calif. has had a solid 2022 with wins at the Wells Fargo Championship in May and also a repeat win last month at the Fortinet Championship. Homa also was selected to play on the U.S. team in the 2022 President Cup and won all four of the matches he played in.

The winner of the 2021 Shriners Children’s Open, Im also was the runner-up at the 2020 Masters Tournament. Moreover, he has also won two times since he got on the PGA Tour

Kim, Wise, or Montgomery vs. The Field (2/2): (The Field is favored at -234)

Kim is coming off a win at the Wyndham Championship back in August, the 20-year-old from South Korea. One of the youngest players on the field, he has a really bright future ahead. The fifth-ranked player in the FedEx Cup, Montgomery is also a UNLV grad and will be playing at one of his home courses. The Las Vegas native also placed third at the Fortinet Championship earlier this year. Finally, Wise is the last contender spotlight on our list and is looking for his first PGA Tour win since 2018. A PGA veteran, he is now the highest ranked he has ever been on the PGA Tour at No. 36 overall.

Prediction: Though these six golfers certainly bring a lot of talent to this tournament and perhaps the most high-end star power, take the field here given the depth of numbers
