San Antonio Spurs vs Boston Celtics information

San Antonio Spurs season so far

San Antonio came into the campaign considered to be among the favorites to go all the way, and they started the year with an excellent 5-0 run to open their season, defeating all of the Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, and Miami Heat.

But the team fell to defeat in their opening games of October, losing to the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers, before responding well. They had two three-game winning streaks within their next eight, and finished the month with a 13-6 record.

The Spurs team really picked up momentum in December, claiming revenge over the Lakers for their defeat earlier in the season, while going on a strong 10-2 run which also included wins over the New York Knicks and back-to-back wins over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The new year started with optimism as they defeated the Indiana Pacers, but they then went 7-7 over the rest of the month, but that period did include a 100-95 win over the Celtics.

After ending January with a defeat against the Charlotte Hornets, San Antonio went on a sensational run as they won all 11 games in February, despite the month being broken up by the All-Star break, defeating a number of top teams in the process.

That run was brought to an end in the opening game of March, as they lost to the New York Knicks, but they have since gone on a four-game winning streak, defeating the Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, and Houston Rockets.

Boston Celtics season so far

The Celtics started their season poorly, losing their opening three games of the campaign against Philadelphia, New York and Detroit. But they clawed it back to end October with an even record, defeating the Pelicans, Cleveland Cavaliers, and earning revenge against the 76ers.

Their mixed form continued into November as Boston lost four of their first six games of the month. However, the team found their groove in the second half of the month, winning six of their next eight, including a three-game run against the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers, and Brooklyn Nets.

That form then carried into December, as Boston won their first four, defeating New York, Washington Wizards, LA Lakers, and Toronto Raptors. But they hit a bad hurdle, losing two-in-a-row to the Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit. But the Celtics returned to winning ways once more, winning five of their next six to end 2025 with a 20-12 record.

2026 began with three straight wins, but the rest of the month was a very mixed bag. The team went 7-6 after that run, failing to win more than two games in a row at any point.

Since then, the team have returned to their best form and are now firmly back in the running to win their conference. Boston went 9-2 in February, losing just one game either side of the All-Star break, and have won four of their five games in March so far, including against the Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers most recently.

NBA Picks: San Antonio Spurs to win @ +150

Two teams that have some superstars leading the way, and there is fierce competition between them in a game that could well be a preview of this year’s NBA finals.

The Spurs have got Victor Wembanyama in sensational form. The Frenchman is averaging 23.9 points per game this season, and managed to average 11 rebounds and three blocks per game too. On the other side of the court, the Celtics have got Jaylen Brown as their main man, averaging 27.9 points per game, while they have also just welcomed Jayson Tatum back from his achilles injury, adding to their firepower.

On paper, San Antonio have been the better of the two teams. They have more wins, have a better defensive record, a better offensive record, and they will have home advantage.

They are 9-1 in their last ten games at the Frost Bank Center, and the win earlier in the season was an impressive one. They have the qualities to defeat the top teams, and this is another chance to show it.

While Boston are coming into their own in recent times, it’s still a big hurdle to overcome, and with the value of plus-money odds, it’s too hard to ignore backing the Spurs in this one.
