Premier League Soccer Returns! Here Are The Bets To Make

Updated February 9, 2023By Chris Boline

The 2019/20 English Premier League season was postponed on March 13 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Teams were meant to return to action on April 3, but that date came and passed, leaving sports bettors around the world wondering if the Premier League season would ever finish. The answer is yes with teams given the green light to resume the season, albeit behind closed doors with no spectators.

Check out our preview of the biggest Premier League games, complete with the latest injury news and Premier League betting odds before you place your wagers at an online bookmaker such as Bovada.

Manchester City To Resume Winning Ways

Manchester City (-305) goes into their game at home to Arsenal (+700) trailing league leaders Arsenal by 25 points. Theres no way on this planet they can catch Liverpool who is -100000 to win the Premier League title.

City is playing for pride. Theyve practically got a UEFA Champions League spot locked up so the pressure is off, but they lost to arch-rivals Manchester United before the season was paused. Theyre huge favorites to return to winning ways, probably a little too short to bet outright, but taking the -1.5 spread at -115 looks a superb bet.

This game finished 3-1 to City in the previous two meetings at the Etihad and a similar story looks on the cards. City has Sergio Aguero fully fit, the Argentinian genius is on 16 goals for the season, only three goals behind Leicesters Jaime Vardy in the race for the golden boot.

The break came at a bad time for Arsenal who had rediscovered winning ways. A run of three wins in 12 games was followed by five wins in six has helped them, but theyre as close to the relegation zone as they are third place.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is Arsenals talisman. he has 49 goals in 75 for the Gunners. Scoring against City will see him because the sixth-fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals. Back Aubameyang to score at any time at +140.

Pick: Manchester City with -1.5 spread at -115 and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score at any time at +140

Almost Full Strength Spurs Need To Learn To Win

The say winning is a habit, but losing is too. Unfortunately for their fans, Tottenham Hotspur has been doing plenty of the former. Including the Champions League and FA Cup, Spurs lost four of their last six and drew the other two games. Thats partly because their squad was ravaged with injuries.

Harry Kane was one of those injured players, but the club captain is 100% fit and ready to return with a bang. Kane was on 11 goals before an ankle injury ruled him out until mid-April. The enforced break has allowed Kane to return to match fitness. Kane is +450 to score first and +150 to score at any time. We like the look of both bets.

When it comes to the game it should be a close affair despite the contrast in form. Jose Mourinho will ensure his side isnt beaten by his old team making the +240 on the draw look good, but the +180 on a Spurs win is also enticing. If you cant decide, put your money on the draw no bet market with Spurs at +100 which covers both bases.

Dont write off Manchester United (+145) who havent lost since January 22nd, some 11 games ago. Theyve also got Marcus Rashford back fit after he looked like missing the season. Despite this, Spurs have Mourinho as their coach and the Special One could be the difference in this game.

Pick: Tottenham Hotspur to win at +180

Any Parlay Bets For the Returning Weekend?

It makes sense to try and maximize your winnings and try your luck with a parlay bet. We have won that sees a healthy $449.65 return on a $50 bet.

Weve already chosen Manchester City to win with a -1.5 spread and Tottenham to edge their game at +180.

The third team is Leicester City to win away at Watford at +110. Watford are fighting for their Premier League lives but one win in 10 is relegation form. They rely on captain Troy Deeney to steer them but hes been outspoken about not playing soccer while the COVID-19 virus is among us. Without his support, Watford are doomed.

Pick: Three team parlay of Man City with -1.5 spread, Tottenham, and Leicester

Theres Still Value In These Futures

They say theres only two things in life that are certain: death and taxes. Well you can add Liverpool winning the title to that because they have -100000 odds with Bovada thanks to a 25-point lead.

Theres better value betting on the relegation futures, particularly Norwich City to finish bottom at -275. Theyve only won five of the 29 games this season and still have to play Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Man City while currently being four points behind 19th placed Aston Villa.

Aston Villa (-300) also looks doomed, but you can choose any from Bournemouth (-125), West Ham (+200), and Watford (+240) although Bournemouth have the toughest runout.
