Philadelphia Eagles v Los Angeles Rams information

Philadelphia Eagles season so far

The reigning and defending Super Bowl champions entered the new season with a new offensive coordinator for the fourth consecutive season after Kellen Moore took over as head coach of the New Orleans Saints, while it is also their first season since 2009 without Brandon Graham following his retirement in the summer.

The Eagles’ pre-season was strong, as they opened up with an impressive 34-27 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals at home, while their second pre-season clash saw them host the Cleveland Browns, but this time they fell to a disappointing 13-22 defeat. The final game before the season opener saw a 19-17 win over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.

In their first NFL game of the campaign they hosted the Cowboys and claimed a 24-20 victory in a hard-fought game, despite Jalen Carter being ejected just six seconds into the game for spitting at Dak Prescott. The Eagles turned in a strong display defensively to stop the visitors from scoring a second-half point.

They then took on rivals Kansas City Chiefs in the second game in a rematch of the Super Bowl earlier this year, and Jalen Hurts stepped up once again to get one over on Patrick Mahomes to claim a tight 20-17 victory.

Los Angeles Rams season so far

The Rams are now into the ninth season under head coach Sean McVay, and will be looking to improve on their 10-7 record from the last two seasons by repeating as NFC West champions.

Their pre-season campaign started well too as they defeated the Dallas Cowboys 31-21 at the SoFi Stadium, before a second game at home saw them take on local rivals Los Angeles Chargers and claim a win by the narrowest of margins in a 23-22 clash.

The Rams then took on the Cleveland Browns in their final warm-up game and fell to a disappointing 19-17 defeat at Huntington Bank Field, but they were ready to step up when the regular season began.

Their opener saw them take on the Houston Texans at SoFi Stadium, where they were able to turn the game around despite a slow start that saw them behind 6-0 midway through the second quarter. However, the Rams kept the Texans scoreless throughout the entire second half and then moved to a 14-9 victory.

Los Angeles then turned in an exceptional second-half performance once more when they took on the Titans the following week, having found themselves 13-10 down at half-time. This time though, the team turned on a strong offensive display to blast their opponents away.

Byron Young had five tackles and two sacks during the game as the Rams outscored the Titans 23-6 in the second half to come away with a 33-19 victory and move to 2-0 for the season.

NFL Picks: Philadelphia Eagles -3.5 @ +100

These two played twice last season, with the Eagles winning both, including their game in the NFL playoffs, so it’s no surprise that they are the favorites to find victory once again.

So far this season Philadelphia haven’t been scoring too freely, averaging 22 points per game over their two games. But offensively they have been strong, with an average of 119 pass yards completed per game. They are also averaging 140 rushing yards per game, showing they are capable of mixing things up.

Defensively, Philadelphia have allowed one touchdown via the pass in addition to 180.5 pass yards per game, which puts them as the eighth-best ranked defense in the NFL. Philadelphia has surrendered a total of 240 rush yards (120.0 yds per contest), in addition to three touchdowns on the ground.

Considering the numbers this season, their styles of play and the quality they have on the field, there is great value in taking the Eagles to win again on the moneyline at -183. However, there is even more value in taking Philadelphia to cover the -3.5 spread.

Both games between the two sides last season saw the Eagles claim victory by a bigger margin than this, and they’re flying high right now. At +100 odds, this is the best bet to take ahead of this game.
