Heading into the quarter-final stage of the 2023 US Open, a handful of notable contenders have emerged on the men’s singles side of the bracket. Of course, there are a handful of strong favorites positioned to take home the championship, particularly multi-time champion Novak Djokovic and also 2022 title holder, Carlos Alcaraz. Beyond them though, there are a couple of other remaining standouts in the field like Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, a former No. 1 overall athlete, and also Andrey Rublev. The latter of which faces off with Medvedev in the quarterfinals next.

In this report, SBS will be going over the remaining favorites to win the 2023 US Open men’s singles title, a predicted winner, and also more notes about tennis wagering.

The No. 1 Contender: Novak Djokovic (Odds: -110)

Already safely in the semifinals, the Joker has looked marvelous during this tournament. Coming off a demolition sweep of American Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals (6-1, 6-4, 6-4), Djokovic is squarely in position to claim his fourth US Open title if he can keep the good times rolling along. Moreover, after he advanced to his 47th career men’s singles major semifinal, he became the oldest US Open men’s semi-finalist since Jimmy Connors in 1991.

The No. 2 Contender: Carlos Alcaraz (Odds: +175)

The defending US Open champion, Alcaraz is also in a prime position to set up another showdown with Djokovic. That said, he does have some more work to do with a quarterfinal matchup against Alexander Zverev and a potential semifinal showdown with Medvedev on the horizon. As the No. 1 seed though, he has been as good as advertised, only losing one set in his first four matches

Third Ranked Athlete: Daniil Medvedev (Odds: +1100)

Coming into this tournament as the No. 3 overall seed, Medvedev has enjoyed a strong run this tournament as well. While he did falter initially in his fourth-round matchup against Alex de Minaur, he was able to win three sets in a row after losing the initial frame. That said, his potential semifinal showdown against Alcaraz could make the case for the matchup of the tournament if both play to their potential.

Final contender spotlight: Andrey Rublev (Odds: +1400)

Rublev enters this list as a dark horse contender and could play a spoiler on this list if he is able to upend Medvedev in the quarterfinals. That said, the Russian has also played great to this point, only losing three sets in his first four matches. A top-ten player in the world, this appearance ties his career-best singles performance at the US Open.

Prediction: While there are of course still a handful of players left on the field, this is really a three-horse race between Djokovic, Alcaraz, and Medvedev. With that in mind, take perhaps the best player of all time in Djokovic to win once again
