NHL Playoff Picks: Lightning to Continue Their Streak

The NHL Conference finals are well underway. The Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Islanders could not be locked in a hotter competition. Tomorrow they will face off for Game 3 at 2pm EST in New York.

After splitting the series 1-1 in Tampa, the Islanders are looking good as they move to their home turf. Ondrej Palat, Brayden Point, and Nikita Kucherov have been on a great streak and will look to continue to take the Lightning to victory.

We expect this to continue, as the Lightning have been on a roll and looking like the defending champs that they are. Do not expect them to be kicked off their pedestal as easily as the markets expect.

How to Read these Odds?

In American format, the odds have a somewhat confusing presentation, but with a little instruction, it becomes very easy in no time.

Something that may seem counterintuitive when you first start looking at NHL markets is that the higher the number, the less likely it is that that particular bet will be true, according to the markets. That is because the number represents your reward directly, which is always inverse to probability.

For example, if you want to bet on the Las Vegas Golden Knights to win the hockey game at (+450), you will earn $450 for every $100 that you risk.

If the numbers go into the negative (-), then you are suddenly betting on the absolute favorite.  In this case, you will have a smaller payout than you would for a winning bet slip betting on the underdog.

Finding your NHL Playoffs Betting Site

Having read how to understand and digest the odds for the NHL Playoffs, it is time to pick your hockey betting site. Keep these things in mind when choosing where to sign up.

Double Check the Deposit Options

All the online betting sites we recommend for online NHL Playoffs wagering accept a wide range of banking methods, it is good to make sure the one you plan on using is accepted with your sportsbook.

If you prefer Discover Card, you will have no problem finding options for you! Bitcoin bettors will have plenty of choices as well, though they should find sportsbooks that offer them even better bonuses if they make their initial deposit with a cryptocurrency.

Choose at Least Two

The first thing is to not stop with just one sportsbook. We always suggest this setup for a few strategic reasons.

One is so that you will be able to compare and contrast NHL Playoffs betting lines across sportsbooks. This means that you are only buying the best lines at the best price, rather than blindly going with the one at your usual site. It’s important to shop around!

The big second reason is that you will get two welcome bonuses, plus all the promotions all year!
