The 64th annual Grammys award show is scheduled to take place on April 4th, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead to the potential winners of the big awards of the year already.
We’ll look ahead to the Song of the Year award for 2022 and all ten nominations for the big one, including the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, and more.
Let’s take a look at all the songs involved in the race for the award and break down their chances of success come awards night in April.

The favorite for the award this year is first-time nominee Rodrigo with her hit song ‘Drivers License’. The song was released in January 2021 and reached a high of number one in 25 countries including the Billboard 100.
It was her debut single for what was a huge year for the star, who is nominated for seven Grammy awards in total this year. The song has already won the Apple Music Song of the Year for 2021, as well as the MTV VMA award for song of the year, and is odds-on to take the crown here too.
After an incredible 2020 which saw her win seven Grammy awards, Billie Eilish is back with a bang this year and is looking to win Song of the Year yet again.
She previously won the award for ‘Bad Guy’ and is back with ‘Happier Than Ever’, although the song didn’t do so well commercially peaking at number three in Australia and Ireland. With six other nominations for the night, her best chance for a win lies elsewhere.
An R&B banger was the debut of group Silk Sonic, made up of duo Bruno Mars and Anderson. Paak, in 2021 and has earned them their first nomination as a pair.
Mars has previously won 11 Grammy awards while Paak has won four, but this song gave them a great moment last year. “Leave The Door Open’ claimed victory in the ‘Song of the Year’ category at the Soul Train Awards and won the Favourite Soul/R&B song at the American Music Awards too. Chart-wise it went number one in six countries, including the US Billboard 100, and has a decent outside shot of claiming victory.
A former Nicki Minaj stan, Lil Nas X has taken the music world by storm over the last few years and ‘Montero’ saw his amazing chart success continue in 2021.
The song went number one in 21 different countries in 2021 and while it got some clearly-intended backlash, the song is more known for its music video than the actual sonics. The song is once again nominated for ‘Video of the Year’ too at the Grammys and has a much better chance of winning that one than winning ‘Song of the Year’.

Djoa Cat and SZA linked up for one of the best songs of the year in this one and marks Doja’s first-ever nomination for ‘Song of the Year’.
The song won ‘Collaboration of the Year’ at the American Music Awards, MTV European Music Awards, and the MTV Video Music Awards so clearly, has some traction to win the big one here. It also went number one in six countries, but ultimately it will probably fall short in this category.
Last year’s ‘Song of the Year’ winner H.E.R is back with another banger for 2022 with ‘Fight For You’, which has the chance to join an elite list in being a song that wins a Grammy and an Oscar this year.
The song featured on the soundtrack for ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ and therefore didn’t chart, but such is its brilliance is that it still got a nomination. This is one of eight nominations for H.E.R this year and while she’ll pick up one prize at least, it won’t be here.
One of the biggest pop stars in the world returned from a sabbatical with one of the biggest albums of the year, and one of the most successful songs of the year too.
‘Bad Habits’ won ‘Song of the Year’ at the MTV European Music Awards and LOS40 Music Awards for 2021, while also going number one successfully in 27 different countries including the US and UK.

Could it be third-time lucky for Bieber in the ‘Song of the Year’ category? Having previously failed with nominations for ‘Love Yourself in 2017 and ‘Despacito’ in 2018, ‘Peaches’ provides a chance for the two-time Grammy winner to make his mark on the category.
The likelihood is he won’t though as one of the biggest outsiders, but he has a chance for success elsewhere with eight other nominations.
One of two nominations for Brandi Carlisle in this category this year, ‘Right on Time’ is a big outsider for the award.
The song didn’t have any chart success, but it obviously caught the ear of someone important to earn her a nomination. It would take a miracle for her to win the award here though, although she has won six Grammys in the past.
The only nomination for Alicia Keys this year, which if she is unsuccessful will see her success rate from nominations to victories drop to an insane 50% having previously won 15 of 29 Grammys.
It’s the biggest outsider for a reason, with no chart success and little known hype around it, but it’s a beautiful song and worthy of its prop. It’s not winning this year though.
