The F1 takes itself across Europe to Austria this weekend as we hit race number 11 for the season with the push for the championship balanced finely at knife point.

A first win of his career for Carlos Sainz in the UK last week means Red Bull and Ferrari are at loggerheads for both the Driver’s and Constructors Championships, while 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton was back to his best to claim his second consecutive podium of the season for the first time.

We’ll take a look ahead to the Austrian grand prix this weekend and provide you with our best free betting picks for the event to see if we can end you some extra cash for the summer.

Favorites to win

Max Verstappen – Red Bull (-110)

Nobody has ever won the Austrian GP more times than Max Verstappen in F1 history, and the Dutch driver will look to move to the top of the rankings alone with a fourth win in Austria this Sunday.

He has won the race in three of the last four years (2018, 2019 and 2021) and is one of just three drivers competing in the race to have won it before, alongside former world champion Hamilton (2016) and Valtteri Bottas (2017 and 2020).

The 24-year-old failed to make use of his status as favorite to win at Silverstone in the last race, it was ultimately a problem with the car that cost him the lead and saw him end the race in 7th place. But his dominance in 2021 and 2022 have afforded him that status again and he will be looking for a 7th victory of the year on one of his very favorite tracks.

At almost even money, this is a great value bet for anyone looking to bet big and it’s not one to avoid in any circumstances.

Charles Leclerc – Ferrari (+300)

The Monacan driver started the season on fire with two wins in the opening three races for Ferrari. But he’s slowly slipped behind Verstappen in the race for the Driver’s Championship, and needs a win here to keep his hopes alive.

It’s now five races without a podium finish after he fell behind both Hamilton and Sergio Perez after the restart following the safety car late on. That run has seen him drop to third in the rankings behind both Red Bull drivers.

He’s never won this race before but has been runner-up on two previous occasions, although his main aim will undoubtedly be to ensure a better finish than 2021 where he finished in 8th place.

Carlos Sainz – Ferrari (+1200)

A first career victory after over 150 F1 races came for Spaniard Sainz in the United Kingdom last week, and he’s rewarded for that excellent drive by being placed as the third favorite coming into this one.

In ten races so far this season Sainz has retired from three and finished inside the top four in each of the other seven, so will be keen to continue that run here.

With Ferrari looking to gain ground on Red Bull on their “home” track, could the Spaniard make it consecutive victories after never winning before?

Sergio Perez – Red Bull (+1200)

A thrilling race saw Perez claim the runners-up spot in the United Kingdom Grand Prix last weekend and move to second in the standings of the Driver’s championship behind his teammate Verstappen.

With the same car as Verstappen, who has won this race three times in the last four years, a +1200 price for him to be the man to claim the winners spot is excellent value.

He is performing brilliantly well and driving with his head on a swivel, making all the right decisions at the right times and being rewarded for it currently.

Red Bull have a brilliant chance to claim victory in Spielberg and if you fancy the Spaniard to claim it then the price is excellent.

Lewis Hamilton – Mercedes (+1400)

Seven-time world champion Hamilton has earned consecutive podiums in his last two races, but this is the longest he’s ever gone in a season without a race win now.

He’s one of only three people on the track to have claimed victory in this race before, but it was way back in 2016 and the Mercedes car isn’t at it’s best currently.

Plenty will need to go in his favour for him to be successful on this occasion, but if there’s anyone to back to beat the odds and win when he’s not supposed to it’s the man who will go down in history as one of the greatest of all-time.
