UFC Women’s Flyweight contest overview: Erin Blanchfield vs. Manon Fiorot

Fighter Spotlight: Erin Blanchfield

Known as “Cold Blooded,” Blanchfield is recognized as the No. 2 fighter in the UFC women’s flyweight rankings as of this article’s writing. Moreover, she is also noted as the No. 4 combatant in the UFC women’s pound-for-pound rankings. With a career record of 12-1, she has notched notable UFC wins over the likes of Talia Santos, Jessica Andrade, and Molly McCann. Moreover, she has notched multiple submission (four) and knockout wins in her career (two). In her UFC career, she is tied for the second-longest win streak in UFC Flyweight division history (six) and also a Performance of the Night outing (vs. Jessica Andrade in February).

Fighter Spotlight: Manon Fiorot

Another fighter that is within the top five of the UFC women’s flyweight division rankings (three), the French fighter is a strong and athletic competitor. Known as “the Beast,” Fiorot has won national championships in France in Muay Thai and snowboarding as well. Like her opponent, she also is tied for the second-longest win streak in UFC Women’s Flyweight division history at six victories. Since losing her MMA debut in June of 2018, she has scored 11 consecutive victories, including six by way of knockout. In her most recent contest, she scored a unanimous decision victory over former champion Rose Namajunas. Recently, she has won four bouts by way of unanimous decision and has not had a split decision occur in her career.

Prediction: This will be a close battle as both combatants are pretty evenly matched, but take Blanchfield to score the win here given her slightly better overall resume in MMA.

UFC Men’s Welterweight contest breakdown: Vicente Luque vs. Joaquin Buckley

Fighter Spotlight: Vicente Luque

The fighter is coming off a decisive unanimous decision win over Rafael dos Anjos last August in Las Vegas, giving him an overall mark of 22-9-1 in MMA competition. This victory snapped a two-fight losing skid for Luque. However, prior to that skid, he had notched a four-fight winning streak, notching wins over the likes of Tyron Woodley and Michael Chiesa. During this streak, he put together three Performance of the Night outings for two different submission wins along with a knockout of Randy Brown. He is just outside the top ten when it comes to the UFC welterweight rankings, but this bout could be huge for his status.

Fighter Spotlight: Joaquin Buckley

Luque’s opponent in Atlantic City will be Buckley, a fighter who is riding a current two-fight winning streak. In his last two bouts, he has scored a unanimous decision victory over Alex Morono along with a knockout win over Andrea Fialho. Moreover, the American is a powerful fighter with 12 knockout wins in his career to give him an overall mark of 17-6. A professional competitor since 2014, he has put together four Performance of the Night outings in his career, his most recent occurring in 2022 in a TKO win against Albert Duraev. Of course, with this fight, he has a great shot to get into the championship scene with an emphatic victory over his opponent.

Prediction: Another close battle, take Luque here to win given his more impressive overall resume.
