Dallas Cowboys vs Detroit Lions information

Season so far

Dallas on the other hand have had a fantastic season so far and has the best record in the entire NFL with ten wins and three defeats in their 13 games at the time of writing.

They started the season with a stunning 40-0 win over the New York Giants week 1, before following up with a second win over the New York Jets 30-10 in week 2. The Cowboys then suffered their first loss of the season in a 16-28 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals, before another loss in week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers saw them get thrashed 42-10.

There was a win between those games that saw them claim a 38-3 victory over the New England Patriots. They followed that with back-to-back wins over Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams either side of their bye, before a trip to Philadelphia Eagles saw them defeated again.

Since then however they have won their last five games on the bounce, dominating with a 49-17 win over the Giants again, a 33-10 win over the Carolina Panthers, a 45-10 win over the Washington Commanders, then a brilliant 41-35 win over the Seatle Seahawks and finally a dominant 33-13 win over the Philadelphia Eagles most recently.

Dallas will take on the Buffalo Bills in week 15 and Miami Dolphins in week 16 before this game takes place.

Detroit have had a magnificent season so far, starting their campaign with a shock win over reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs. They followed that up with an overtime defeat in week 2 against Seattle Seahawks, before a mightily impressive four-game winning streak followed.

The Lions beat the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers consecutively before suffering a one-sided defeat to the Baltimore Ravens in week 7.

They bounced back quickly with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders in their next game before a bye week, and returned to action with consecutive wins over the Los Angeles Chargers and a 31-26 win over the Chicago Bears.

The Packers then claimed revenge for their loss earlier in the season with a 29-22 win in week 12, before a solid 33-28 win over the New Orleans Saints helped get them back on track. Most recently they were beaten by the Chicago Bears though in a terrible showing as they lost 28-13.

The Lions will face the Denver Broncos in week 15 and the Minnesota Vikings in week 16 before this game takes place to close out 2023.

NFL Picks: Cowboys to win

Most people started the season believing that the Chiefs would probably repeat, but plenty of teams have stepped up and taken over the mantle and the Cowboys are one of them.

At the time of writing nobody has a better record for the season than Dallas (tied with Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and Baltimore Ravens) and that makes them serious contenders when it comes to the post-season.

Their place in the playoffs is already secured, as is Detroit’s, so the intensity of this game is unlikely to be the highest. But the Cowboys just have that knack of knowing how to win games of football, and they should find themselves notching up another victory for the season with home-field advantage for this game.

NFL Picks: Back the Unders

So far this season the Cowboys have been rampant offensively and solid defensively.

After 13 games this season Dallas are averaging 32.38 points scored per game, while defensively they are allowing an average of 17.92 points per game.

Alternatively the Lions have been very strong too, averaging 26.15 points per game scored this season while defensively they have allowed 24.15 points per game on average.

Neither team are likely to go too heavy in this game with their post-season places already cemented, so expect some low quality football with some half-hearted performances which should less points than usual scored. If the Under is at 44 points or below, take it.
