The College Football Playoff National Championship match takes place this Monday between Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs.

Alabama is the defending champions and were also the preseason favorites.

As for Georgia, they started the season as the third betting favorite, and are looking to win their first national championship since 1980.

The match is at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and is the finale of what has been an exciting season of US College Football.

In the betting to win the National Championship, the best NCAAF Betting Sites now has the Bulldogs as their favorites.

Georgia is -142 with BetOnline on the Moneyline, while Alabama Crimson Tide is +122 to win their second championship in succession.

On the handicap spread, Georgia go in with a -2.5 points handicap. While this isn’t a huge margin, it does represent a changing of the guard with the best sports betting sites across the season, as the Crimson Tide started as the favorites.

Total Points betting sees the spread mark set at 52.5.

Alabama Crimson Tide

The Alabama Crimson Tide (13-1) is the No.1 ranked side in the NCAAF.

They are also the defending national champions, having annihilated Ohio State Buckeyes 52-24 in the 2020 Playoff National Championship match at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida, back in January 2021.

This season’s record for the Crimson Tide reads 13-1.

You need to go back to October 9th, 2021 to find the last time Alabama lost a match.

Back then they were defeated by Texas A&M Aggies by 41 points to 38 at Kyle Field.

Since that day the Crimson Tide has won eight matches in a row, including a 41-24 demolition of Monday’s opponents, the Bulldogs, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium at the beginning of December – a match we will look at in more detail later.

In their last outing, the Crimson Tide beat Cincinnati Bearcats 27-6 in the final of the Cotton Bowl Classic.

Georgia Bulldogs

The No.3 ranked side in this season’s NCAAF, the Georgia Bulldogs (13-1) have enjoyed a successful campaign.

The Bulldogs won 12 straight matches from the start of the regular season, topping the SEC East table with ease.

They suffered the anguish of losing their final regular-season match to the Crimson Tide, but they bounced in true champion style by defeating Michigan Wolverines 34-11 in the Orange Bowl.

And it’s this excellent form that sees them go into Monday’s final as the betting favorites with the best sports betting sites

Crimson Tide v Bulldogs Head-To-Head

As alluded to above we are going to look at the most recent match between the two sides.

When it comes to head-to-head, it’s rare in sport – apart from maybe the NBA – to be lucky enough to have a match between the two sides we’re previewing played so recently.

But that is exactly the case here with the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs having met just two matches back, in December 2021.

The match was played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which despite being situated in Georgia, isn’t the home ground of the Bulldogs.

On that day the Bulldogs were trounced by 41 points to 24 by the Crimson Tide.

This was the first defeat of the season suffered by the Bulldogs, and it dealt a massive blow to their belief they were going to win their first National Championship since 1980.

Going into that match the Bulldogs were the team to beat

They were undefeated all season and were expected to win and confirm their status as the championship favorites.

The defeat – along with the convincing nature of it – has now seen the potential changing of the guard at the very least delayed until Monday.

On the day Bryce Young was instrumental in pulling the strings for Alabama’s win.

The Crimson Tide quarterback avoided being sacked and completed 26 of his attempted 44 passes, which resulted in three touchdowns.

In order for the Bulldogs to overcome Alabama on Monday, they must find a way to stop Bryce Young, otherwise, they may find themselves on the wrong end of the score again!

Who Will Win the National Championship match?

Before Alabama Crimson Tide beat the Bulldogs at the start of December, I would have said the Bulldogs would win.

Now I’m not so sure. Are the Bulldogs having similar doubts, and has that defeat affected their self-belief?

Only time will tell there!

If the two teams play to their potential though, I believe that the Bulldogs will win. And therefore if pushed for a betting pick, I would go with Georgia to win.

For my main pick though, I’m looking at the Total Points market.

I’m not expecting a cagey affair here, I’m expecting plenty of action.

BetOnline has the Total Points Spread at 52.5 points, and with the previous match between these two sides yielding 65 points, I’m backing that the spread is beaten here.
