One of the more intriguing head coaching searches this offseason, the Broncos are in the process of hiring their new head coach. Per the BetUS newsroom, one candidate has separated himself from the pack, the current defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, Dan Quinn. This comes after Denver CEO Greg Penner fired Nathaniel Hackett in December, in a one-and-done campaign. Per the official BetUS release, Quinn leads the squad of possible candidates for the next head coach at Denver with odds of -110. According to the report, Quinn is far ahead of the second most likely candidate, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, which BetUs has posted at +400 odds to land the job.

In this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from the latest news from BetUS and also more notes about using the online sportsbook.

Quinn has prior head coaching experience with Atlanta

According to the report, the current Cowboys defensive coordinator, Quinn is one of the hotter names on the coaching carousel given his prior head coaching experience. The coordinator’s resume also includes a Super Bowl appearance during his time with the Falcons. Moreover, Quinn’s ability to build a locker room culture has been lauded and will perhaps bring some stability to a 4-13 Broncos team that has been marred by locker room instability. Since joining the Cowboys, the coach’s efforts to transform the team’s defense have been especially notable given Dallas’ rise within the NFC.

Moreover, there are some more Broncos connections for Quinn other than his resume being a fit. With the Cowboys, Quinn works with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer who was on the coaching staff in Seattle when current Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson was a Seahawk. As the report notes, Schottenheimer and the quarterback worked together well during their time in the Pacific Northwest. This potentially means that Quinn could potentially bring the offensive coordinator with him should he join the Broncos.

Other famous coaches vying for Broncos’ top spot

In the BetUS report, Quinn isn’t the only coaching talent that Denver has its eyes on. Rounding out the top five for the job are Eric Bieniemy (+400), Jim Harbaugh (+450), Sean Payton (+500), and Kellen Moore (+600). Bieniemy is the current Chiefs’ offensive coordinator and one of the best in the business at his position. He has been superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes’s only OC during his NFL career, but this is perhaps his chance to strike out on his own. Another intriguing name on this list is Jim Harbaugh who just led the Michigan Wolverines to the College Football Playoffs (CFP).

In addition to Harbaugh, a potential dark horse name on this list is former Saints head coach Sean Payton. The 58-year-old went 152-89 in 15 years with New Orleans, winning Super Bowl XLIV in 2010. However, the Saints own his rights still, so any interested team would need to trade for him and give up some kind of capital. Finally, Moore is a rising star at just 33 years old and is the kind of young mind that franchises like to take chances on. Per BetUS betting analyst, Barry Barger, he thinks that Bieniemy makes the most sense to turn around the dysfunctional Broncos offense and also has a nice plus side at +400. He pointed out that the other candidates would perhaps be turned off by the sometimes mercurial nature of star quarterback Wilson.
