Utah Mammoth v Colorado Avalanche information

Utah Mammoth season so far

The 2024/25 season was a disappointing one for the Mammoth as they had a mixed campaign, seeing them earn a 38-31-13 record. That was only enough for them to finish 6th in the Central Division and 11th in the Western Conference, missing out on a playoff spot.

Utah opened up their season with a trip to face Colorado and fell to a hard-fought 2-1 defeat, with Karel Vejmelka credited with the loss. But he, and Utah, bounced back in their next game as they travelled to take on the Nashville Predators and came away with a 3-2 win in overtime.

But their following game, another road trip to take on the Chicago Blackhawks, same them suffer defeat once more, as head coach Andre Tourigny changed things and brought in Vitek Vanecek with bad results.

Since then though, Tourigny has gone back to Vejmelka in nets and has been rewarded with three consecutive wins.

The Mammoth hosted Calgary Flames in their first home game of the campaign and earned a strong 3-1 win, before they next took on the San Jose Sharsk and blew them away with a dominant 6-3 victory.

Last time out, Utah took on the Boston Bruins in their third straight home game and claimed a 3-2 win to set them up for this one in sensational form.

Colorado Avalanche season so far

The Avalanche had a strong season in 2024/25 where many expected them to go far, but after making it to the playoffs they were eliminated in the first round by the Dallas Stars in disappointing fashion.

So far this season though, they have started strongly and are impressing like many expected they would.

Their opening game of the season saw them travel to take on the Los Angeles Kings, and they opened up with a 4-1 win before their aforementioned 2-1 win over Utah in their next game.

Next up they took on the Dallas Stars and a hugely entertaining and exciting game saw a 4-4 tie in regular time, with the Stars then going on to claim the win in a shootout, leaving Colorado with just one point from the clash.

Since then, however, Jared Bednar‘s side have gone an impressive three-game winning streak. They bounced back from that disappointment with an impressive 3-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres, before another dominant win on the road as they defeated the Colombus Blue Jackets.

Last time out, the Avalanche earned a 4-1 win over the Boston Bruins to extend their winning streak and come into this game in excellent form.

NHL Picks: Colorado Avalanche to win @ -156

Both teams have had lots of success this season, scoring plenty of goals and defensively being strong in the process.

So far this season the Mammoth have scored 17 goals in their six games, averaging 2.83 goals per game, while they have only conceded 11, an average of 1.83 per game. Colorado, on the other hand, have scored 21 goals in their six games so far this season, averaging 3.5 goals per game, while they have allowed just 10 – with only one in five of those games.

The numbers clearly show that that the Avalanche are the stronger team in both areas of the game, but being on the road is never easy and Utah are 3-0 at home so far in this campaign.

With that said, it’s impossible to ignore the fact that the teams faced off less than two weeks ago and Colorado came out on top. The 2-1 win is likely to be a blueprint for how this game will go, and despite the fact it’s in a different location, it’s hard to see a different result.

At -156, there is great value in the Avalanche to continue their excellent form and claim yet another win, so take it while you can.
