bovada betting news september 2024

College football season is roaring along, but the NFL is about to make its debut next weekend and Bovada is here with an excellent array of futures for you to check out at its site. Per an update from the site, before the opening kickoff this year, dozens of players and coaches might have a shot at lifting an individual trophy at the NFL Honors ceremony next February. Of course, according to Bovada, this is the best time to score some potentially big payouts. In terms of categories, this ranges from Coach of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year to Offensive Player of the Year along with various rookie-oriented awards as well. In fact, there are some early headliners that could make a strong run if they look up to the preseason hype.

For this article, SBS will be going over what to look for in the latest gaming news coming from Bovada along with more notes and information coming from the website.

Morris selected as the frontrunner for top coach honors

Per the report, Raheem Morris at +600 is currently the early favorite to take home the top coaching title in 2024. Noted in the report, everyone loves a comeback story, and with the Atlanta Falcons and Morris, NFL fans get two-for-one. It’s Morris’ second shot at a head coaching gig, and the Falcons loaded up in the off-season after six consecutive losing seasons. If they can head to the playoffs this year, Morris has a clear path to winning the Coach of the Year. Meanwhile, another interesting selection for this category is the Chicago Bears’ Matt Eberflus at +850 as this will be a make-or-break year for the coach with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and a cast of improved skill position players like Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze. Matt LaFleur (+900) of the Packers and DeMeco Ryans (+1000, Texans) are also in the mix.

Moving over to the defensive side of the football, an excellent standout to look out for this season, and really every year he is in the league is Dallas’ excellent linebacker, Micah Parsons. At +500 he is the favorite to win DPOY and for good reason. With 13+ sacks each of the past three seasons, the Cowboys playmaker is still only 25 years old and this could perhaps be the year he finally wins this huge award. Another name to look out for is T.J. Watt (+525) of the Steelers who locked down the honor in 2021 as that year’s sack leader. Of course, this list features all kinds of rock star players from Myles Garrett (+650) to the Raiders’ Maxx Crosby (+675). Nick Bosa at +725 rounds out the highlighted NFL DPOY nominees.

McCaffrey, Verse, and Williams are other award stars

Headling the category for OPOY, the 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey is the man to beat this year at +650. As last year’s OPOY, if he can stay healthy over a full year, he is a strong contender to win again as a dynamic dual-threat on a Super Bowl-caliber team. As the runner-up for last season’s OPOY, Miami’s Tyreek Hill (+700) could find an extra burst this year especially if the Fins are able to get the most out of their talented roster. Noted in the article, a new face might be seen at the NFL Honors in February, as New York Jets running back Breece Hall (+1000) benefits from having a healthy Aaron Rodgers at quarterback along with a talented supporting cast on offense to distract opposing defenses. Rounding out this list of contenders are wide receivers CeeDee Lamb of the Cowboys and Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson at +1000 each.

Rounding out the report were betting futures on both defensive and offensive rookies of the year (DROY and OROY). As a two-time first-team All-America college player, Jared Verse is used to picking up some hardware. The Los Angeles Rams rookie linebacker is high on the list at +350 to do the same this year at the DROY frontrunner. He will have stiff competition from Dallas Turner of the Vikings and Laiatu Latu of the Colts though who are both at +360. Caleb Williams of the Bears meanwhile is the clear top choice for OROY at +135 as he will have a bolstered wide receiving corps to throw to as the Bears’ new franchise quarterback. However, another potential rookie sensation, Jayden Daniels of the Commanders (+375), has an opportunity to steal the show from the dynamic Williams if things break in the right direction.
