Slated for later this month at the OVO Arena in London, BKFC 27 features two outstanding main event contests. In the traditional main fight of the evening, former Bellator MMA combatant Michael Page will take on UFC veteran Mike Page in a middleweight bout. The other notable boxing contest of the night will be between former UFC star and All Elite Wrestling performer Paige VanZant and Charisa Sigala who currently maintains a 1-2 record in the BKFC. Certainly a promotion that does not pull any punches, this should be an exciting display of action at the OVO Arena.

For this article, SBS will go over what to look for from each fighter, who will be victorious in each bout and some other related notes about betting on boxing.

Men’s Middleweight (79 kg) contest: Michael Page vs. Mike Perry

Fighter Spotlight: Michael Page

A fighter with one of the most unorthodox styles in all of MMA, Michael Page is definitely not someone you would want to tangle with. Currently recognized as the No. 2 fighter in the Bellator Welterweight Rankings, Page is one of the most successful combatants in the BKFC. Nicknamed “Venom,” he currently maintains a 22-2 record in professional MMA bouts along with a 2-0 professional boxing record. Though he is coming off a loss in his last Bellator bout back in May of this year, perhaps this might spur Page to work even harder to win in his BKFC debut. As alluded to earlier in this preview, Page is known for his unusual fighting style which features a lot of elusive movement and knockout power which is designed to unnerve his opponents while also firing up the crowd.

Fighter Spotlight: Mike Perry

A former competitor for the UFC, Perry will serve as a battle-tested foe for Page. A fighter with a current professional MMA record of 14-8, Page boasts wins over Mickey Gall, Alex Oliveira and Alex Reyes. With multiple “Performance of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” credits to his honor, Perry is a combatant that has the ability to win via his furious kinetic energy on a regular basis which is seen in his 11 career knockout wins. This will be Page’s second BKFC showdown after winning in his bare knuckle debut back in February over this year with a unanimous decision win over Julian Lane. However, this could be perhaps his biggest test yet in his showdown with Page in London.

Prediction: This bout should serve as an excellent main event contest for BKFC 27 given the knockout ability displayed by both fighters in other sports. With that in mind, choose Page to win here given his more extensive track record

Women’s Flyweight (57 kg) contest: Paige VanZant vs. Charisa Sigala

Fighter Spotlight: Paige VanZant

One of the most recognizable faces in all of combat sports, VanZant will also be making her BKFC debut in London later this month. With a career professional MMA record of 8-5, VanZant established herself as one of the tougher fighters in the sport and has never been knocked out in her professional career. While her bare knuckle boxing record is not as desirable at 0-2, this bout could serve as her coming out party in London. With both of her losses coming by way of unanimous decision, VanZant will have to focus on consistently winning on the judge’s scorecards if she wants to earn her first professional BKFC win

What to look for from: Charisa Sigala

Opposing VanZant will be BKFC veteran Charisa Sigala. While she had a slow start to her career with a 0-2 record, the 38-year old has turned things around with a win at BKFC Wichita in October of 2021 and a draw against Angela Danzig in March of this year. Currently weighing in at 115 pounds, Sigala does have a 10-pound disadvantage against the larger VanZant which is even more pronounced in the smaller flyweight division. Nonetheless, she does maintain a more robust bare knuckle boxing record which will only help her cause against the younger VanZant.

Prediction: While Sigala does have more experience in the BKFC, VanZant should win out here given her more lengthy overall combat experience along with her youthful advantage
