In what should be one of the most exciting bouts of the summer, Jake Paul takes on Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in July. Per a press release from its website, BetUS has gotten in on the action by becoming the first sportsbook to begin accepting bets on the Tyson vs. Paul fight. This bout is set to take place on Netflix on Saturday, July 20th. As noted in the same release, the sportsbook posted initial odds favoring Paul at -300 and Tyson as a +225 underdog as of the press report’s release. Of course, these odds are subject to change as betting action is received and the latest odds on the site can be found at BetUS. As of this article’s writing, Paul is still the favorite at -175 while Tyson clocks in at +145.

In this article, SBS will be going over the latest news and notes coming from BetUS along with additional notes and information coming from the online outlet.

Paul vs. Tyson is shaping up to be a sports spectacle

As noted on the official release, Tyson, a name synonymous with boxing royalty, is stepping back into the ring to face an opponent unlike any he’s encountered before. His foe in this fight, Paul has an impressive record and a knack for stirring the public’s interest. He also represents a new era of fighters – those who have transcended traditional paths to stardom through their prowess on digital platforms.

“We are on the brink of witnessing one of the most talked-about events in the world of sports and entertainment,” Tim Williams, director of public relations for BetUS said. “This bout is more than just a fight; it is a cultural phenomenon that bridges generations, merging the appeal of a time-honored sport with the dynamism of modern-day celebrity. With Tyson’s historic reputation and Paul’s meteoric rise in the boxing world, this event promises not only an explosive clash but also a significant moment in the evolution of boxing as entertainment.”

Clash is expected to generate huge revenue for the fighters

Also noted on the press release, financially, the stakes are sky-high, with projections suggesting the fight could generate upwards of $300 million in revenue for the parties involved. In terms of betting, Williams said BetUS expects the fight to be one of the most bet-on boxing matches in recent memory. “It will be one for the books, no pun intended.”

Paul and Tyson enter bout with vastly different resumes

For fans of boxing, Paul has made a name for himself in recent years as one of the most colorful and entertaining personalities in the sport. With a career boxing record of 9-1 along with six knockout wins, the “Problem Child” has been one of the sport’s most surprising and hottest stars in recent memory. In his career, he initially rose to fame taking on athletes from other sports. This includes Nate Robinson (basketball), and various MMA stars like Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz, all of which he was able to get the best of. Recently, he is coming off back-to-back knockout wins over the likes of Ryan Bourland and Andre August and is riding a three-fight winning streak. A social media sensation, he boasts a total view count of 7.5 billion on YouTube as of this article’s writing.

His opponent, Tyson, also needs little introduction. Known by such monikers as “Kid Dynamite” and “The Baddest Man on the Planet,” Tyson is regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. In his prime, he reigned as the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990. Moreover, he won his first 19 professional fights by knockout and holds the record as the youngest boxer ever to win a heavyweight title (20 years, four months). Of course, this all occurred over 30 years ago and Tyson is now much older at 57 years of age. His last professional boxing fight occurred back in 2005 against Kevin McBride which ended in a sixth-round retirement loss. His overall career record now stands at an amazing 50-6 with an awesome 44 knockouts.

Per reports, the bout is scheduled to take place on July 20, 2024, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and will be streamed globally on Netflix. Of course, the main storyline here will be how much Tyson’s age will play a factor against a fighter who is still very much in the prime of his career.
