An event that needs no introduction, WrestleMania 39 is set for this upcoming weekend as the WWE returns to Hollywood at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Getting in on the fun, BetOnline has unveiled some fantastic betting markets for the event, including some odds related to the main event between Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and the challenger, Cody Rhodes. Per one outlet, WrestleMania is the longest-running professional wrestling Premium Live Event (formerly pay-per-view) and is well-known for legendary performances. The main event of this year’s edition will be interesting given that Rhodes, despite his lengthy resume, has never won a heavyweight championship from a major wrestling promotion.

For this report, SBS will be going over the latest news from BetOnline along with more notes and information about using the website.

Rhodes seen as the successor to the champion Reigns

Per one outlet, the current storyline in the WWE suggests that Rhodes’ “destiny” is to win the WWE Championship against Reigns this weekend in Los Angeles. As referenced in one article, his father, the legendary Dusty Rhodes, was never able to knock off then-champion “Superstar” Billy Graham back in the late 1970s. According to BetOnline, Rhodes is featured as a -550 favorite to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against the “Tribal Chief.” Moreover, Reigns has only a +325 betting market in his favor, suggesting that the former Stardust has an 85% chance of winning the championship.

While some other sites have suggested there are alternative odds to this event, the majority do place Rhodes as the clear favorite over Reigns at WrestleMania 39. The challenger is one of the original founders of AEW and has had an impressive career to this point, at only 37 years of age. The champion, on the other hand, is in one of the longest reigns in company history at 930+ days and counting. This is the longest championship tenure of any WWE championship since 1988

Rhea Ripley placed as favorite to win Women’s title

In addition to the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match, BetOnline has also rolled out odds related to the SmackDown Women’s Championship bout. This match will pit the champion, Charlotte Flair, against the challenger, Rhea Ripley. As of this writing, the challenger is a -1000 favorite to take home the title at SoFi Stadium. According to one outlet, a Ripley win here is “as close to a sure thing as you can get in the pro wrestling industry.” Moreover, her implied likelihood of winning here at -1000 is around 91%. Flair, on the other hand, has her odds stacked at +500 to retain the title.

For this matchup, Ripley will be looking to keep the momentum going after making history earlier this year at the 2023 Royal Rumble. The winner of the Women’s Royal Rumble contest, she took on all comers as the first woman to win a Royal Rumble as the number one entrant. That said, Flair is indeed no pushover as perhaps the greatest women’s wrestler of all time at just 36 years of age. She is a record-setting 14-time women’s world champion, and the most well-known female wrestler in all of professional wrestling so it would be no surprise here if she retains the title although it appears this is Ripley’s moment.
