Below, SBS breaks down some of the latest news about the company and also an update on current contests from BetOnline.

BetOnline tabs Cats as 8-1 front-runner for 2023 title

Per CatsPause.com, which is a part of the 247Sports/CBS Sports network, BetOnline has tabbed the Kentucky Wildcats as the favorite to win the 2022-23 national championship. After the recent announcements regarding the return of national player of the year Oscar Tshiebwe and starting point guard Sahvir Wheeler, the Wildcats have emerged as the frontrunner for the national title. Currently, BetOnline has Kentucky at 8-1 to cut down the nets in Houston next season. After Kentucky, Eric Mussleman’s Arkansas Razorbacks are second at 10-1, followed by North Carolina (10-1), Houston (12-1) and Duke (14-1).

According to CatsPause, the momentum has been steadily building for the Wildcats this offseason. ESPN’s chief bracketologist, Joe Lunardi, projected the Wildcats as his No. 1 overall seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Moreover, a number of other early preseason polls have penciled them in as a top-five team for next season. In fact, in his latest version of Top 25 and 1, Gary Parrish of CBS Sports ranked UK as the No. 3 team behind only UCLA and North Carolina.

However, Parrish did say that Kentucky could rise even higher if former No. 1 overall prospect and projected top 10 pick Shaedon Sharpe returns next season. Per Parrish’s article, he is projecting that Sharpe will enter and remain in the NBA Draft because he is penciled in as a top-10 selection, but he could come back and play for UK next season. If this situation were to change though and he came back next year, then of course Kentucky’s chances would ratchet up for 2022-23.
