College basketball season has already featured a ton of thrilling games and what better way to get prepared for the NCAA Tournament than by doing some bracketology homework? Per the main BetNow promotions page, BetNow is now offering its annual $1,000,000 Bracket Madness Contest to “help NCAA bettors prepare for this gargantuan tournament.” According to the rules page on the site, first and foremost, sportsbook players participating in the 2024 Bracket Madness should fill out their free entry form at BetNow. As the site suggests, there is no better way to watch the NCAA Tournament unfold than by watching the predictions rack up. As of this article’s writing, the AP Top 25 has featured multiple upsets this past week and there has been a lot of movement all over the college basketball landscape.

In this article, SBS will be going over the rules of this promotion at BetNow, some more notes about the online sportsbook, and even more information available to you at SBS.

Grand prize goes to contestant with the perfect bracket

According to the main BetNow rules page for this promotion, this contest is strictly one entry per household and prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged. The grand prize will be awarded to the contestant who correctly picks all winning teams including the tiebreaker. In case of a tie, the winner will be determined by who accurately predicted the score of the tiebreaker game. If more than one player meets the grand prize criteria, the winnings will be split amongst the qualifying winners. The grand prize winnings will be paid in six installments over a six month period. A notifying email will be sent within 48 hours to the winners once the contest is final.

Per the website, all entries must have a valid email address. If a winning notice is undeliverable, it will be counted as a disqualification. Moreover, all judges’ decisions are final and there is no rollover attached. Moreover, as aforementioned in this report and on the BetNow website, the prize package will accumulate to $1,000,000 in winnings. First place (the grand prize, including the tiebreaker) will receive a $350,000 first-place prize. After that, second place will receive a $200,000 prize, and third receives $100,000. Finally, if you land in fourth place, $40,000 could be yours, and then spots five through 30th could be up for $12,000 apiece.

BetNow contest outlines replacement team scenarios

As noted on the website, there are certain measures taken if teams are moving around the tournament. Per the contest rules page, if a team withdraws from the tournament before Thursday, March 17th, that team will be removed from the bracket and the selected replacement team will be inserted. If you wish to change your selections, you may do so at any time prior to the bracket submission deadline at 12:15 pm ET on Thursday, March 17th, 2024. Moreover, once the tournament begins, in the unlikely case that there are forfeits, the team that forfeits will be graded as a loss. House rules and regulations apply in this event and BetNow does reserve the right to amend the contest, prizes, and terms at any time.

As of this article’s writing, three teams have emerged as the best in the world of college basketball. Per the latest NET rankings, Houston (14-1), Arizona (12-3), and Purdue (14-2), have all made statements and claims to the top spot in the college basketball rankings. The Cougars feature a sensational 4-1 record in Quad 1 games, while the Wildcats have notched a combined mark of 6-3 in Quad 1/2 contests. Hailing from the Big Ten, Purdue, and reigning National Player of the Year, Zach Edey has won six Quad 1 games which is the most in the country at this point.

Finally, a little bit of trivia if you are curious about the probability of filling out a perfect bracket. Per a report from the NCAA last year before the NCAA Basketball Tournament, the organization released an article detailing the odds of a perfect NCAA bracket. In this case, the chances are 1 in 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 (if you just guess or flip a coin) or 1 in 120.2 billion if you “know a little something about basketball.” Of course, as the article notes, your chances will increase with more knowledge of the current teams, the tournament’s history, and an understanding of the sport itself.
