Set for this weekend in Puerto Rico, a huge bout for the unified featherweight championship is set to take place as Amanda Serrano (46-2-1) squares off against Nina Meinke (18-3). Serrano enters this bout holding five different titles (WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring) and has an opportunity to continue dominating this division with a bout against Meinke. In her storied career, she has 30 knockout wins and is coming off back-to-back title defenses of all her championships against the likes of Danila Ramos and Heather Hardy. Her opponent Nina Meinke is no pushover as she enters this bout looking to rebound from a loss to Sarah Mahfoud in Copenhagen in 2022.

In this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from the latest gaming news coming from SBS and also for more notes and info about boxing betting.

What to look for from: Amanda Serrano

One of the most dominant female boxers in the sport, Serrano is the unified featherweight world champion and has held each title for some time. She first locked down the WBO title in 2019, and then the IBO belt in 2021. Then, in each subsequent year, she was able to accrue a new championship belt (IBF, WBA, The Ring). A powerful fighter, she has 30 knockout wins in her career and has been able to demolish most of her opponents. At times, she has been ranked as one of the, if not the top pound-for-pound boxer in her sport. Hailing from Carolina, Puerto Rico, she has certainly earned her nickname of “The Real Deal” by stopping nearly all of her opponents.

In terms of her recent bouts, she has won four fights in a row since losing a split decision contest to Katie Taylor in April 2022 at Madison Square Garden. A truly competitive contest – her match with Taylor was her first loss since April 2012, nearly 10 years prior. In that bout, the Puerto Rican lost to Frida Wallberg via unanimous decision in Sweden, but then would go on to win an astounding 28 fights in a row after that. Through the course of those fights, Serrano won a significant amount of those bouts via knockout. However, as she has gained more experience and savvy with age, she has turned to win on the judge’s scoresheets more consistently – notching four unanimous decision wins in her last four contests. Moreover, her second to last fight, against Heather Hardy, was a classic fight that saw Serrano pull away at the American Airlines Center in Dallas back in August of last year.

What to look for from: Nina Meinke

The challenger out of Berlin, Germany, Meinke is Serrano’s junior by five years but has already put together a solid, albeit somewhat brief, career in boxing. With a total fight record of 10-3, the 30-year-old, known as “The Brave,” is coming off a hard-fought unanimous decision loss to Sarah Mahfoud for the IBF world featherweight title. Moreover, this fight took place back in April of 2022, so there could be some ring rust that has built up over time for the German athlete. Prior to her loss against Mahfoud, Meinke had strung together three consecutive victories against the likes of European staples like Edina Kiss and Lucie Sedlackova.

Winning the European female featherweight title back in 2018, the 30-year-old has been on a nearly two-year hiatus from professional fights and has been hard at work training for this showdown.  In her career, she has scored seven decision wins to three knockouts, and has only been knocked out once in her career, that transpiring back in March 2017 against Katie Taylor as well. This was a huge matchup that took place at Wembley Stadium as part of the pre-card fight for Anthony Joshua vs. Wladimir Klitschko later that evening. In her career, she has participated in multiple title fights, eight of them which is a significant number given the amount of overall contests she has participated in.

Prediction: For this contest, take Serrano to win here. While Meinke certainly has some championship pedigree, the Puerto Rican champion just has too much experience, firepower, and savvy for her challenger to overcome. Of course, this bout could result in a big upset, but Serrano is fighting at the top of her game and should be able to take care of the challenger in her native country
