In 2025, Holk-Jones, a State Farm insurance agent, also voiced concern over language in a bill to allow ALFA to provide health insurance for its members. Holk-Jones was one of only two Republicans to vote against House Bill 477. Freeman told the local outlet he wants to fight to save Alabama agriculture and farmers, protect natural resources, and focus on education. The businessman and his wife, Mignon, have six children and attend The Island Church.

“So, I am anti-gambling,” Freeman said. “I do not want a casino in my backyard. That’s not going to happen if I have anything to do with it. With casinos comes crime, prostitution, everything. And I am seen as a law enforcement officer.” Freeman also told a local outlet in the state that he wants to fight to save Alabama agriculture and farmers. “We have got a lot of farmers that are losing their farms, dealing with mental issues, and there are a lot of things we can do,” Freeman added. “They are the backbone of our country. They need help.” Freeman said other priorities would include protecting natural resources and education. Additionally, like in other states across the country, there is a lot of discourse about what the overall benefit of gaming would be.
In other gaming news, Fort Payne police arrested an Albertville man in late October after discovering dozens of illegal gambling machines at his businesses. Per the article, officers conducted operations at three different businesses located at 601 Gault Avenue South, 1515 Gault Avenue North, and 1506 A Gault Avenue North. These raids were conducted after receiving several tips that there were gambling machines located at the businesses, according to the news release. After further investigation, officers discovered the machines were doing cash payouts, and over $7200 was seized during the investigation, according to the release.
Additionally, Gael Garcia, 20, was arrested and charged with Possession of Gambling Devices, Conspiracy to Promote Gambling, Promoting Gambling, and Possession of Gambling Records.
