Following an electric 2023 season, the 111th Grey Cup will be contested later this year during the 2024 Canadian Football League (CFL) season. With that in mind, Xbet has gotten in on the fun with some early betting markets on who will win the 2024 Grey Cup right at their website. For those not in the know, the 2024 year will make the 70th season of modern professional football in Canada and is scheduled to start on June 6, 2024, and end on October 26, 2024, with the playoffs commencing in November. Of course, if you are a CFL fan or new to the sport, the main thing to know is that the Montreal Alouettes won the title last season over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Hamilton. This year though, Xbet thinks Toronto is the squad to beat at +200.

For this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from the latest gaming news coming from Xbet and also some more notes and information about the website.

Argonauts won 16 games last season to top the East

Per the main Xbet site, Toronto is the top pick to win the 2024 Grey Cup at +200. During the 2023 campaign, the Argos had an excellent year but were undone in the CFL Playoffs. Led by a potent offense that scored 591 points last year, Toronto had a perfect 10-0 record in the East Division last year. While they were a fantastic team during the regular season, they stumbled in the CFL Playoffs and lost to Montreal, 38-17 in the Division Finals. Nonetheless, with the league’s Most Outstanding Player, Chad Kelly, leading the way, the Argonauts have an excellent shot to be back in the mix this season. In fact, Toronto cleaned up during the All-CFL Awards and should return sensational lineman Dejon Allen and Most Outstanding Rookie Qwan’tez Stiggers. Indeed, Coach of the Year Ryan Dinwiddie has a fantastic squad.

Trailing the Argonauts in the 2024 Grey Cup betting market from Xbet is Winnipeg at +224. The champions of the CFL West Division in 2023, the Blue Bombers were a fantastic 14-4 last season. Perhaps the best all-around team in the CFL, Winnipeg led the league in points scored at 594, while also having the best overall defense in the league as well (377 points allowed). This all-around mastery led them to the 2023 Grey Cup where they were upset by Montreal. The Blue Bombers are led by quarterback Zach Collaros who was honored as a CFL Western All-Star last season. Like Toronto, the Blue Bombers have a ton of star power as evidenced by their 11 Western All-Stars last year.

Montreal is a dark horse pick to repeat in 2024

Per the main site at Xbet, Montreal has the fourth-best odds (+610) of any team to make a run at the 2024 Grey Cup title. Of course, though, the defending champions might have to say something about that. Finishing last season with an 11-7 record, the Alouettes found themselves in the CFL Playoffs after rattling off four straight wins to close out the regular season. They continued that hot streak in the Playoffs behind former Nevada quarterback Cody Fajardo. In the first two rounds of the Playoffs, the Alouettes were able to outscore their opponents 65-29. Then Fajardo piloted the team to a victory in the Grey Cup, 28-24.

Another team to keep an eye on is the British Columbia Lions (+570). Another team that made the postseason in 2023, the Lions accrued a 12-6 record in the West Division for a second-place finish to Winnipeg. Of course, BC will need to get past Winnipeg if they want a chance at the title in 2024. Wide receiver Keon Hatcher is one to watch for the Lions as is defensive end Mathieu Betts. Both made the 2023 CFL All-Star team. However, it remains to be seen if the latter returns to the CFL after making a stop in Detroit this past year for the other Lions squad.

Hamilton and Roughriders are others to look out for

As referenced in the Xbet report, Hamilton (+1175) and Saskatchewan (+1225) round out the top six teams. Of course, while last year definitely saw some upsets, it would appear that there is a clear top four in the CFL this upcoming season and Xbet thinks the same. However, the former squad did make the CFL Playoffs last year so perhaps they can build on this momentum in 2024 and make a more concerted postseason push and run. Time will tell but this should be another excellent year of CFL action.
