Who’s going to come out on top at the Royal Portrush Golf Club later this week? That’s what plenty of people have on their minds as the Open Championship is officially here. There’s a loaded group hoping to win the title, as the top golfers on the planet are fired up to compete. With that said, Scottie Scheffler is expected to win the 2025 Open Championship. Will he be able to get the job done?
That’s the hope for him, as the hype is real for him leading up to the first round. Scheffler is ranked the No. 1 golfer on the PGA Tour and for good reason. He’s of course no stranger to winning major titles and he’s hoping that he can put together a strong set of performances over the next few days. Things will get started on Thursday, as he’ll want to make a splash in the first round.

“I’m fortunate to be here playing golf, but if golf were ever to affect my family life or the relationship I have with my wife or my son, that would be the last day I play this game for a living,” a humble Scheffler said leading up to the Open Championship.

He’s got that in mind leading up to the first round.
“When I was looking at the calendar for 2025, this was the tournament that was probably circled, even more so than the Masters for different reasons,” McIlroy said on returning to Northern Ireland for this special tournament. “It’s lovely to be coming in here already with a major and everything else that’s happened this year.”

This is certainly something that Scheffler has in the back of his mind too. Soon enough, we’ll find out how things go down for him, but our expectation is he’ll be tremendous from start to finish.
