Tampa Bay Buccaneers season so far

The Buccaneers have started the season in perfect fashion and shown that they are ready to fight tooth and nail to make it into the playoffs and compete for a first Super Bowl championship since 2021.

A strong pre-season saw Tampa Bay claim victory in their first two warm-up games as they defeated the Tennessee Titans 29-7 in convincing fashion, before a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in a narrow 17-14 game. Their third and final tune-up game saw them defeated, however, as the Buffalo Bills earned a 23-19 victory.

But Tampa quickly forgot about that and opened their regular season with a strong performance to defeat the Atlanta Falcons, despite a slow start, which saw them fail to register a point in the opening quarter. The team were much stronger defensively in the second and third quarters as they conceded just three points each, while they scored 17 of their own.

The second game of the season saw the Buccaneers travel to Texas to take on the Houston Texans, as they claimed a last-minute win to maintain their 100% record. Tampa Bay held a 14-10 lead at halftime, but both teams failed to score in the third quarter, which led to a tense final quarter. The Texans took the lead with nine unanswered points before a 2-yard rush from Rachaad White with nine seconds remaining on the clock scored the victory.

Last time out against the New York Jets it was another final-minute score that claimed them the victory, despite them almost collapsing in the final quarter, to claim a 29-27 win. In doing so, they became the first team in NFL history to win their opening three games of the season by scoring match-winning points in the final minute.

Philadelphia Eagles season so far

The defending Super Bowl champions entered the new season full of life, and they started with a strong pre-season too.

The Eagles’ opened up with an impressive 34-27 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals at home, while their second pre-season clash saw them host the Cleveland Browns, although they fell to a 13-22 defeat in that one. The final game before the season opener saw a 19-17 win over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, preparing them well for a big campaign.

The opening game of the regular NFL season saw the Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys, where they claimed a 24-20 victory despite star-man Jalen Carter being ejected just six seconds into the match-up for spitting. Philadelphia put in an excellent defensive display, however, as they stopped Dallas from scoring a single point in the second half.

Next up they took on the Kansas City Chiefs in a Super Bowl rematch, but they made comfortable work of their rivals as Jalen Hurts once again stepped up to the mark ahead of Patrick Mahomes, with Philly picking up the 20-17 win as they successfully ran down the clock late on.

Their 100% record very nearly came to an end last time out, however, against the Los Angeles Rams, as a shocking first-half performance saw them 19-7 down at the break. The Rams scored the first touchdown of the second half too, before a sensational run of 26 unanswered points – including a touchdown after Jordan Davis blocked a last-second field goal attempt that would have won the Rams the game – turned it on its head to win 33-26.

NFL Picks: Philadelphia Eagles to win @ -183

This game is highly anticipated between two teams who firmly believe they can win the Super Bowl this year, and have started in excellent form.

Philadelphia and Tampa’s clash last year saw the Buccaneers come away with a 33-16 win, one of just three defeats the Eagles suffered all season, but Nick Sirianni’s side are much better now than they were at that stage of last season.

Jalen Hurts is flying once again this year and turned in a fantastic performance last week to help aid the turnaround, while the Buccaneers have also shown that while they have heart and a winning mentality, they’re not able to blow teams away.

That will forever leave the Eagles with a chance to stay in the game, which is why taking them on the moneyline seems like the best value bet for this one.

Could the Buccaneers win? Sure. Could they cover the +3.5 point spread? Absolutely. Those bets would also be decent. But it’s hard to bet against the reigning champions when they’ve performed so well for five of the six halves of football they’ve played so far this season, and at -183 there is good value on them doing enough again to win the game and keep their 100% record.
