NHL All-Star Game: History Favors the Pacific and Metropolitan Division

Updated February 9, 2023By Chris Boline

The NHL All-Star game is the NHL game for the fans. The biggest names and brightest stars go head-to-head in what can only be described as the most exciting hockey game of the season. NHL All-Star betting odds provided by Bovada suggest the Pacific Division is the team to beat. In reality, its anyones game due to the sheer amount of talent on show.

History Favors Pacific and Metropolitan Divisions

Every hockey fan around the world looks forward to the NHL All-Star game as they see it as the biggest game of the season. It hasnt always been that way because the game did lose some of its lusters.

Since 2016, the NHL All-Star game has switched to a three-on-three tournament that pits each of the four divisions against each other. With pride and bragging rights on the line, the NHL All-Star game has rekindled some of the magic of previous years and it is back up there with must-see NHL games.

History favors the Metropolitan and Pacific Division as they have both won two of the previous four encounters since the format switch. The current NHL All-Star game odds reflect this with the Pacific Division installed as early +200 favorites, with the Metropolitan Division coming in at +350 with Bovada.

Pacific is coached by Rick Tocchet and captained by Connor McDavid. Six teams make up the Pacific roster, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks, and Vegas Golden Knights.

It is a strong roster but we wont be taking the +200 NHL All-Star Game map odds because the team has already lost three key players in Darcy Kuemper, Logan Couture, and Marc-Andre Fleury to injury.

A similar story hinders Metropolitans chances of All-Star glory. Jake Guentzel, Joonas Jorpisalo, and Kyle Palmieri all withdrew from the Metros roster after succumbing to injuries.

Put Your Money on the Atlantic Division

The Atlantic Division is +250 second-favorites but should, in our eyes, be the team to beat. Captained by David Pastrnak, Atlantic has quality around the ice. Pastrnak enjoyed a superb season with the Boston Bruins and scored 36 goals in 49 appearances. Likewise, Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs managed to find the back of the net 34 times to date.

You shouldnt write off the chances of the Western Conference either, despite being +500 outsiders. They are coached by the currently Stanley Cup holders Craig Berube and can boast a roster with the likes of Alex Pietrangelo, Patrick Kane, and Ryan OReilly.

We dont think the West will go all the way, but it may be work a couple of bucks as an outside bet to keep things interesting.
