The 2025 Formula 1 season continues this weekend as the grid heads to Canada for the tenth race of an exciting season.
In the 2024 edition of this race it was Red Bull star Max Verstappen who claimed victory en route to a third consecutive world championship, finishing ahead of rivals Lando Norris and George Russell. While he’ll be looking for success once again, he’ll have big competition this year.

Below you’ll find a list of the favorites to win the 2025 Formula 1 Canada Grand Prix.
The man currently favorite to find success in Montreal is McLaren star Oscar Piastri, who has been the best driver on the grid so far in the 2025 season.
The Australian finished in a disappointing ninth place in the opening race of the season in his homeland, but he has since won five Grand Prix races in China, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Miami and Spain, while claiming a podium place in Japan, Emilia Romagna and Monaco in the following nine races.
Piastri’s two previous appearances in Canada haven’t been the best of experiences for the young driver, as he finished 11th and 5th. However, he has never been driving as well as he currently is and the car he has right now is by far the best he has ever had.
The track suits the cars with the best straight line speed too, which means McLaren are likely to be right at the front of the queue once more.
With the way he has driven so far this season it’s no surprise that Piastri is the favorite heading into the race, and at +140 odds there is solid value in backing him to get the job done once more.

McLaren have been the dominant team on the grid this season, and Norris is chasing his teammate right at the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings as a result.
A fast start to the season saw him claim victory in the opening race of the season in Australia, before securing three consecutive podium finishes, and then finishing fourth in Saudi Arabia. He then finished as runner-up in Miami and Emilia Romagna to keep himself in the running for the championship, while he also claimed victory in Monaco for the first time in his career.
While Norris is also in the best car of his career this season, his history in Canada is pretty awful. His first appearance saw him retire early, before finishing 15th and 13th in his next two races. In 2024 he finished 2nd, and now he will be looking to go one step further on a track that suits his driving style perfectly.
Races like these are where he needs to close the gap on Piastri in order to find success in the race to become world champion, and at odds of +225 there is great value in backing him to do so. With a good qualifying stint, those odds will drop, so take them while you can.
The reigning and defending world champion started the 2025 season well, but he let his frustrations get the best of him last time out in Spain and he’s now fallen back in the race for the Championship again.
The flying Dutchman’s Red Bull car claimed it’s third victory of the season at Emilia Romagna, having previously finished first in Japan and Saudi Arabia, but he fell out of the podium places in Spain late on after being forced to switch to hard tyres – before ramming into George Russell intentionally out of anger when he was overtaken. A penalty saw him eventually finish 10th.
But he comes to Canada, a track where he has had plenty of success in the past, and will be hoping to get his title charge back on track. He has won this race three times in his career, all his last three appearances, and the track suits his aggressive style of driving.
The issue he has ahead of this race is that his car just isn’t as quick as the McLarens, meaning he needs to hope for pole position, a good start and then a bit of help from outside factors. It seems a bit unlikely, but the value of +500 for Verstappen to win is great, and he’s the man to back if you don’t fancy McLaren.
