Super Bowl picks: Patrick Mahomes over 287.5 passing yards

Patrick Mahomes won his fifth game in the AFC Championship Game with over 300 passing yards and two or more passing touchdowns, which is tied for the second-most such games in post-season history. That cements him as one of the best ever, as if there was any doubt.

There will be much made of Philadelphia’s unbelievable pass rush all week, which is understandable considering they’re one of only four teams in NFL history with 70+ sacks in a season. But they haven’t come up against an elite quarterback like Mahomes.

Even with his injured ankle against the Bengals, the 27-year-old completed nine of 13 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown. He had completions to ten different receivers despite losing three of his top wideouts, but he refused to force the ball to Travis Kelce and instead managed the game expertly to get the win.

Even after suffering the ankle injury against Jacksonville, Mahomes went 12-of-18 for 118 yards to show that he is still incredibly tough to stop even on one leg.

It’s hard to back against the quality of Mahomes, even with the injury problems that the Chiefs are facing right now. His ability and experience at the highest level makes this bet one that could quite easily come in with no surprises.

Super Bowl picks: Dallas Goedert over 45.5 receiving yards

Entering the NFC Championship Game, Deebo Samuel led all wide receivers and tight ends in the 2022/23 NFL season with 9.0 yards after the catch per reception.

The closest person to him however is Goedert, who ranked second in that metric with 58.5 receiving yards per game. He knows how to carry after a catch, and that will be key in the game.

The Eagles coaching staff clearly do an outstanding job of scheming Goedert open in his routes, and it should be expected for him to have another big game with the Chiefs likely to focus their defensive attention more on A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Philadelphia have got a lot of weapons and plenty of options, and Goedert is one of their best, so don’t be shy about backing this one.

Super Bowl picks: Philadelphia Eagles to win by between 7-12 points

History is the reason behind backing this bet, and we’ve gone with the Eagles because we expect them to be victorious in this game after the season they’ve had.

Six of the last seven Super Bowl games have been decided by at least six points, with three of the last five winners winning by a margin that fell in the 7-12 point range.

If you’re looking at the spread for an indication of how this game will go then this is one to avoid, but if you’re looking at history and the way the games have gone in the past then this is the best route to go – with an even higher price if you fancy the Chiefs to do it.

Super Bowl picks: Travis Kelce over 7.5 receptions

Travis Kelce only had seven catches on eight targets last weekend, which is a low number for him considering how often Patrick Mahomes looks for him. But throughout the season, he added 110 catches for 1,338 yards as a tight end.

Kelce is one of the most reliable catchers in the NFL, with 21 of the 25 passes that have come his way in the two post-season playoff games, and he’s been on the receiving end of an average 12.5 passes per game in that period too.

He’s also grabbed three touchdowns and added plenty of targets and catches around the red zone. He’s incredibly efficient and Mahomes’ go-to target in big situations and scenarios.

On the biggest stage of them all, Mahomes will almost certainly look to his most trusted receiver of the ball whenever he can and so that bet should come in handily.
