The 2025 Formula 1 season continues and heads to the Netherlands for the 15th race of the season. That race is the Heineken Dutch Grand Prix. With the teams a few weeks into the second half of the season, McLaren have the top two drivers in the standings in Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
In the 2024 edition of the Dutch GP, Norris claimed victory, beating out Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). Norris started the race in the pole position, recorded the fastest lap, and led the race for the most laps. Norris’s win broke Verstappen’s run of three straight victories in the Dutch GP.

The current betting favorite to win the 2025 Dutch GP is McLaren star Oscar Piastri. The 24-year-old is currently in the top spot in the Drivers’ Standings with 284 points, which puts him nine points ahead of his teammate, Lando Norris.
The Australian driver has been in fantastic form so far this season, winning six of the 14 races so far – with victories in China, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Miami, Spain, and Belgium. Piastri has also earned three runner-up spots and three third-place finishes. The only races he hasn’t stood on the podium were Australia (ninth) and Canada (fourth).
Piastri’s previous two appearances in the Netherlands saw him finish ninth in 2023 and improve to fourth in 2024.
Piastri comes into this race eager to prove that he’s the best driver on the grid this year, with three second-place finishes and one victory in his past four outings.
McLaren has been the dominant team on the grid this season, and Lando Norris is hot on his teammates tail for the top spot in the standings.
The 25-year-old driver won the opening race of the season in Australia but then had to wait until Monaco to claim his second victory. Norris placed second and 18th in his next two outings before winning back-to-back races in Austria and England. He fell to second in Belgium, but is coming off his fifth victory of the year in Hungary. Last year saw Norris win four races. He has already surpassed that number in 2025 with 10 races left in the season.
Norris finished in 10th and seventh (twice) before breaking through on this course in 2024 for his first career victory in the Dutch GP.
The reigning and defending world champion, Max Verstappen, has had a mixed season in 2025 for Red Bull.
The 27-year-old has won just two races so far this season, claiming victory in Japan and Emilia Romagna. Verstappen has not set foot on the podium in his past four starts, finishing second in Canada. That runner-up performance is his only podium since his win at Emilia Romagna in May.
The good news for fans of the four-time champion is that Verstappen has performed extremely well in the Netherlands, winning three straight races before finishing second last year to Norris.
The bad news for Verstappen is that he placed ninth in his most recent outing, one of his worst finishes of the 2025 season in a race that he had won in 2022 and 2023.
