Jannik Sinner – (+125)

The world number one and bookies favorite for success at the US Open this year, Sinner has had a fine return to form since serving a ban for doping violations earlier this year and cemented himself as the best player in the world.

After missing three months of action, Sinner has reached the final of both of the last two Grand Slam tournaments. At the French Open he took a 2-0 lead over Carlos Alcaraz before falling to a sensational comeback, but he claimed his revenge in the Wimbledon final in July as he came from behind to win 3-1.

Having won the US Open in 2024, Sinner ended a run of some poor performances at this venue. His previous five appearances saw him make the quarter-final once, while he was also eliminated in the first round twice and fourth round twice.

There will be a large expectation on Sinner to go all the way once again and claim his fifth Grand Slam title. However, the hard court surface has never been his favorite, and the value of +125 isn’t really there this time. He’ll go deep in the tournament, but this isn’t enough to back him so early on.

Carlos Alcaraz – (+200)

Alcaraz is arguably one of the most in-form players in the world right now, but he saw his incredible streak at Wimbledon come to an end as he suffered defeat in the final – meaning he couldn’t make it four titles in a row.

Before the aforementioned sensational victory in the French Open, Alcaraz was successful in the ATP Rome Masters, and now has also claimed victory at Queens, the traditional warm-up tournament for Wimbledon. Prior to that, he also reached the final in Barcelona and won the Monte Carlo Masters. Including the Wimbledon tournament, Alcaraz has won 28 of his last 30 matches.

Alcaraz has had previous success in the US Open, but 2024 was a performance that was a shadow of what we have come to expect. The Spaniard reached the quarter-final in his first attempt in 2021, before winning the tournament in 2022. 2023 saw him reach the semi-final too, before a shocking second-round exit last time out.

With that said, he’s improved even more over the last 12 months and this would be a great opportunity for him to get back on track. At odds of +200, there is terrific value in backing him to make it six Grand Slam career titles, so Alcaraz is our pick to get the job done.

Novak Djokovic – (+800)

Djokovic is undoubtedly one of the very best of all-time, but at the age of 38 it’s no surprise that his powers are beginning to dwindle now.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion has won the US Open an four timeswhile he has also reached the final on six other occasions in his career. While he is still playing excellent tennis and reaching the latter stages of competitions, he doesn’t quite have that next gear that he used to have when coming up against the best in the world.

At Wimbledon it showed as he reached the semi-finals but fell to eventual champion Sinner, and he simply had no answer for the offense and athleticism on the other side of the court.

The US Open is a tournament where he has had great success in the past, and his style of play has always suited the harder surface more than clay. But it will also be far more taxing on his body and could see him run into trouble if he gets into more difficult and longer matches.

With that said, there is seemingly an expectation that he will end his career with a 25th Grand Slam title somehow, some way. This may be his best chance, as the older he gets, the more difficult it will become.

Sinner and Alcaraz are sensational and in great form, and Djokovic will likely have to beat both to be able to claim victory. But it only takes an upset somewhere else in the bracket to open it up more, and with a price of +800 it’s certainly something that cannot be ignored.
