In what is scheduled to be the 71st season of modern professional football in Canada, BetNow has recently released odds of who will hoist the 112th Grey Cup in November 2025. Per the site, the current early favorite is Toronto at +230 after the Argonauts won the championship at the end of the 2024 season. Meanwhile, the Montreal Alouettes (+375) have something to say about Toronto’s chances as they have had a strong offseason and are looking to take the next step this year. Per BetNow, Saskatchewan is another squad at +450 who could make a run to the championship should things shake out their way. Of course, with the season starting in a few weeks, it will be interesting to see how things shake out and also what recent history might tell us.

In this article, SBS will be going over the latest gaming news and updates coming from BetNow, along with some additional updates from SBS and more.

Toronto had a wonderful campaign in 2024

Notching a record of 10-8 in the regular season, Toronto locked down a second-place finish in the East Division of the CFL and came into the playoffs as a dark horse. In the first round of the playoff bracket, the Argonauts scored a 20-point victory over Ottawa and advanced to the Division Finals for a huge battle with first-place Montreal. In the Division Final game, Toronto was able to hold off (albeit barely) the Alouettes and notch a 30-28 victory. Led by former Arizona standout running back Ka’Deem Carey, the Argonauts raced to victory in the 111th Grey Cup game with an emphatic 41-24 win.

Led by head coach Ryan Dinwiddie, the Argonauts will bring back a variety of key players from last season. In addition to Carey, Toronto will also have the service of quarterback Chad “Swag” Kelly, along with a variety of team award winners from last year. Aside from defensive back DaShaun Amos and wide receiver Makai Polk, the Argos will have all of their team awards players returning for the squad this year, which will, of course, help their case. An interesting stat to point here is that Toronto averaged 15,129 fans last season, the lowest figure in the CFL. If that number perks up, perhaps the fans will play a pivotal role in Toronto returning to the championship game.

Montreal aims for revenge in the 2025 season

The Alouettes entered the 2024 season as defending Grey Cup champions following their victory in the 110th Grey Cup game. Per sources, last year’s campaign was another success as the Alouettes clinched a playoff berth for the fifth consecutive season. Later on, following an Ottawa Redblacks loss in week 17, Montreal clinched first place in the East Division for the first time since 2012. While the squad came up short against Toronto, they still have a talented roster that BetNow thinks can hang with the best in the league. This includes the likes of Tyrice Beverette, who won the team’s Most Outstanding Player award and also the Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award. In fact, all of the team’s award winners are slated to return to Montreal. One thing to note about Montreal is how they ended last season with a two-game losing streak at the end of the regular season, plus another loss to Toronto in the postseason.

Saskatchewan & Winnipeg are two to watch

Noted above, the Roughriders at +450 are a potential team that can make a run to the title, at least according to BetNow. Finishing last season with a mark of 9-8-1, Saskatchewan is a fantastic squad and a team that could make some noise in the West Division if they can get past Winnipeg. Speaking of which, the Blue Bombers round out the BetNow top four of teams favored to take home the championship next season at +500.

The top team from the West Division last season, the Blue Bombers, could potentially make some noise again as they aim for a Grey Cup title. Quarterback Zach Collaros is a critical player for them and a strong veteran presence. Collaros won the 107th Grey Cup and the 108th Grey Cup as the starting quarterback with the Blue Bombers when they defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in both games. Additionally, he has won the Grey Cup as the backup quarterback with the Argonauts in the 100th Grey Cup. Certainly, this will be a fantastic team effort, but perhaps this is the year the future CFL Hall of Famer makes a final run to the championship. Per the site, there definitely is some parity at the top of the rankings in these big four squads.
