The end of the Major League Baseball regular season is closing in on everyone and there are some fun divisional battles for people to keep a close eye on. This includes a race in the American League between Seattle and Houston. As things stand, BetOnline has the Astros and Mariners in a tight fight for the AL West title. Which team will end up winning the division?
For years now, Houston has dominated play in the AL West thanks to the brilliant play of Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and others. Houston currently holds a 1.5-game lead over the Mariners as of this writing and they’re hoping to close the regular season out in style.

In order for that to happen, the hope is that Alvarez can get back to full health. He’s been out for about three months due to an injury, but things went quite well for him during his rehab assignment. Alvarez rejoined the Astros this week and you better believe that he’s going to be focused on making up for lost time now that he’s going to be back in the lineup.

For a little while, Seattle hasn’t been able to get over the hump, with the Astros owning them. Will that change this fall leading up to the playoffs? A reason that Seattle fans are strong believers in the club is the fact that Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh continues to make history at T-Mobile Park. On Saturday, Raleigh hit two homers to help his total get to 49 for the season. Then on Sunday, he followed things up with another mammoth dinger against the Padres, helping him reach 50. The single-season Mariners record is 56 by Ken Griffey Jr. Raleigh has that number in his sites.
“It doesn’t seem real,” Raleigh said after the Mariners win over the Padres on Sunday. “I mean, 50 home runs, it’s kind of a crazy number to think of. I thought I was a cool player when I hit five when I was young in high school or something. You hit five, you had all this power in the world. So it’s just crazy.”

What about the Yankees? Unfortunately for people in the Bronx, it’s been another rough season for manager Aaron Boone and pressure continues to come in from the fanbase for him to get fired. It will be interesting to see if that happens or not, but if the Yankees don’t make noise in October, then it won’t be a surprise to see Boone end up without a job leading up to next season.
