Betonline Has The Astros And Mariners In Tight Fight For AL West Title

The end of the Major League Baseball regular season is closing in on everyone and there are some fun divisional battles for people to keep a close eye on. This includes a race in the American League between Seattle and Houston. As things stand, BetOnline has the Astros and Mariners in a tight fight for the AL West title. Which team will end up winning the division?

For years now, Houston has dominated play in the AL West thanks to the brilliant play of Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and others. This season, the Astros have once again looked brilliant, with the bats staying hot and the pitching being dominant. Houston currently holds a 1.5-game lead over the Mariners as of this writing and they’re hoping to close the regular season out in style.

In order for that to happen, the hope is that Alvarez can get back to full health. He’s been out for about three months due to an injury, but things went quite well for him during his rehab assignment. Alvarez rejoined the Astros this week and you better believe that he’s going to be focused on making up for lost time now that he’s going to be back in the lineup.

Per the trustworthy BetOnline sportsbook, Houston holds -190 baseball betting odds to win the AL West, while Seattle holds +150 sports betting odds. For a little while, Seattle hasn’t been able to get over the hump, with the Astros owning them. Will that change this fall leading up to the playoffs? That remains unknown, but the Mariners sure have a lot of confidence thanks to their talented slugger.

Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh continues to make history at T-Mobile Park

A reason that Seattle fans are strong believers in the club is the fact that Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh continues to make history at T-Mobile Park. On Saturday, Raleigh hit two homers to help his total get to 49 for the season. Then on Sunday, he followed things up with another mammoth dinger against the Padres, helping him reach 50. The single-season Mariners record is 56 by Ken Griffey Jr. Raleigh has that number in his sites.

“It doesn’t seem real,” Raleigh said after the Mariners win over the Padres on Sunday. “I mean, 50 home runs, it’s kind of a crazy number to think of. I thought I was a cool player when I hit five when I was young in high school or something. You hit five, you had all this power in the world. So it’s just crazy.”

As for the action back on the diamond, the Mariners haven’t won the AL West since 2001, but they’re in a good spot to wipe away 24 years of bad memories later this year. Seattle went all-in at the trade deadline to push for the West title, with Jerry Dipoto making some big-time trades to help put his team in the best position to win. Soon enough, we’ll see if those moves pay off for him.

The Dodgers remain the favorites to win the World Series per BetOnline

It shouldn’t come as a surprise at all, but the Dodgers remain the favorites to win the World Series per BetOnline. Los Angeles is loaded with an incredible amount of talent, which of course includes Shohei Ohtani. He continues to impress people with some of the moonshot home runs he hits both in front of fans at home and on the road. He’s without question one of the best players in the bigs.

The Dodgers certainly aren’t the only elite team with high World Series hopes, as the Brewers, Tigers, Phillies, Padres and Blue Jays are also teams that the oddsmakers are quite impressed with. Hey, don’t rule out the Astros or Mariners here, as the two AL West sides will surely be ready to make a lot of noise once the postseason arrives. Expectations will be high for those two.

What about the Yankees? Unfortunately for people in the Bronx, it’s been another rough season for manager Aaron Boone and pressure continues to come in from the fanbase for him to get fired. It will be interesting to see if that happens or not, but if the Yankees don’t make noise in October, then it won’t be a surprise to see Boone end up without a job leading up to next season.
