The PGA tour moves on to the BMW Championship this week following the FedEx Cup Playoffs, and the top players in the world will be heading to Maryland.
The top 50 players in the world will compete for the crown over 72 holes between August 14 – August 17, to see who can put together the best score and go down as the winner of one of the biggest tournaments of the year outside of the four majors.

Below you’ll find a list of favorites to win the BMW Championship 2025.
The undisputed number one golf player in the world in 2025, Scheffler slipped to a T-3 finish last time out in Memphis, but he still holds a 2,000+ point lead at the top of the FedEx Cup standings.
While his driver, irons and putter are still among the best in the world, his short game caused him some issues last time and he’ll need to address that if he wants to get back to winning ways in this tournament. Many fans noticed his struggles without caddie Ted Scott, and he Scottie will be hopeful that he’ll have him by his side once more, although it’s currently unclear if that is the case.
This is a tournament that Scheffler has never actually won before and the last time it was held on this course he finished 14-under and T-22. It’s not a golf course that suits his strengths particularly well either.
Add all of that to the fact that he’s such a short-odds favorite, this feels like a bet to pass for this tournament.

Having taken several weeks off following his performance at The Open tournament back in Northern Ireland in June, McIlroy will be fancying his chances of returning to the course for victory for a fourth time this season.
His incredible driving will be well suited to the course, and this is a tournament that McIlroy won back in 2012, although that was at the Crooked Stick course rather than Caves Valley.
At odds of +750 there is good value in him considering the season he has had so far, but coming into this tournament off a lengthy absence means he may take a little while to warm up, and that may leave him a little bit too much to do to finish top of the pile.
McIlroy is undoubtedly good enough to get the win, but considering the odds of some players on the field this year, this looks like a pass.
Outside of the top two, it’s two-time champion of this tournament Cantlay who is the man to look at for victory this week at Caves Valley.
After winning the BMW Chamiponship in 2021 and 2022, the California native has somehow failed to win a PGA tournament since the latter success, but he has shown excellent form recently that suggests he could be on his way back to his best.
That 2021 success also came on this course, the last time it happened there, which is also a good omen for the world number 22.
He also comes into this tournament in decent form after a T-10 finish at the FedEx St Jude last week, and there is terrific value in going for him to find a third victory – moving him ahead of Dustin Johnson and Keegan Bradley as former two-time winners.
It’s worth noting here too that success in this tournament could see him nail down a place in the US Ryder Cup team too. At odds of +2200 there is sensational value in him to go all the way, while there should also be interest in an each-way bet too.
Cameron Young has been someone on the verge of a breakout in recent years, and after finally securing victory at Wyndham for his first PGA Tour win, he is building momentum ahead of this tournament.
The 31-year-old, who will turn 32 the day after the tournament ends, will be hopeful of celebrating his birthday weekend in style, and comes into this competition after a T5 finish at FedEx St Jude last week.
Much like Cantlay, Young is battling for a place on the US Ryder Cup team and a successful tournament at Caves Valley could secure him a spot.
His putting game has improved greatly and his driving game has always been one of his strengths, which suits the course well here. A victory may be a bit of a stretch considering the competition on the field, but at odds of +2200 and with the form he’s in, there is great value here for a surprise winner.
