The NFL season continues, and in week 8 we get a big clash between two teams with very differing seasons so far as the Philadelphia Eagles host the New York Giants at the Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles have started the season very well as they look to defend their Super Bowl crown, and come into this game with a 5-2 record so far. The Giants, on the other hand, have had a poor campaign and enter this match-up with a 2-5 record.

After claiming the Super Bowl title and stopping the Kansas City Chiefs from a historic three-peat, Philadelphia began their season in picture-perfect fashion.
The Eagles hosted the Dallas Cowboys in the opening game and claimed a 24-20 win, despite Jalen Carter being ejected after just six seconds for spitting. They then took on the Chiefs in a Super Bowl rematch and earned another win over their rivals, running the clock down late on for a 20-17 victory.
The team then took on the Los Angeles Rams and were on the verge of defeat before a 26-0 run in the second half, including a late touchdown after Jordan Davis blocked a last-second field goal attempt that would have won the Rams the game, to win 33-26.
Their 100% record was extended to 4-0 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a rather comfortable victory, but they then fell to their first defeat of the season in the following game against the Denver Broncos as they completely collapsed in the fourth quarter, conceding 18 points in a 21-17 defeat.
That was followed up with their first match-up against the Giants of the season, and they had another disappointing second-half collapse, which saw them concede 21 unanswered points and lose 34-17 on the road, with Jalen Hurts throwing his first regular-season interception since November 2024 in the process.
Last time out, Philadelphia bounced back into the victory column with a dominant win against the Minnesota Vikings to build some momentum ahead of this one.
The Giants had a shocker of a season last year, going 3-14, but they’re currently on track for a slightly better campaign this time around.
A strong pre-season saw the team win all three of their games, but the regular season saw their opening game end in a disappointing defeat against the Washington Commanders, as they fell to a 21-6 loss. Their second game then saw them take on the Cowboys in a stunning game that went to overtime, before they fell to a 40-37 defeat after a fourth quarter where both teams scored 20+ points.
New York’s losing streak continued against the Chiefs in week 3, losing 9-22, and handing Patrick Mahomes their first win of the season in the process. But the Giants finally managed to claim their first win of the campaign, claiming a 21-18 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, but they lost Malik Nabers to a season-ending ACL injury in the process.
They then failed to build on that momentum in the next games though, and have gone 1-2 since then. They followed up that win with a 26-14 defeat to the New Orleans Saints, as they failed to score a single point in the second half. They then earned the aforementioned win over the Eagles in their next game, but last time out they fell to defeat against the Denver Broncos.
The performance was the most disappointing though, as they lost 33-32 after conceding all 33 points in the fourth quarter.

After the game between the two sides two weeks ago, there are some suggestions that the Giants could find their way to a win, matching their total tally of victories from last season already.
But while Philadelphia have not been at their best so far in this campaign, they should still have more than enough about them to come away with a win over New York.
So far this season, Hurts and the team have been scoring a lot of points. The team has managed 170 points in their seven games so far, averaging 24.28 points per game. The Giants, alternatively, have allowed 177 points in their seven games, which plays nicely into the Eagles’ hands.
After the chaotic collapse that New York experienced last week, their confidence is likely to be at an all-time low. The Eagles will be desperate for revenge after their first meeting this season, and home advantage could also be key.
