Heralded as the biggest crossover boxing matchup to start the new year, British YouTube sensation KSI will square off against Brazilian YouTuber FaZe Temperrr at Wembley Arena. In a light heavyweight division bout, KSI, the current ICB World Cruiserweight Championship holder, was initially supposed to square off with MMA fighter Dillon Danis. However, Danis would have to drop out due to issues with the stipulations around the match, the match weight, and a lack of preparation. In his place will be Temperr, who was supposed to fight earlier that night against a mystery opponent. Known as “The Nightmare,” KSI has had a solid start to his pro boxing career with one professional win to his credit (a split-decision win over Logan Paul in 2019).
In this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from each fighter, along with the predicted winner of the fight and more notes about boxing wagering.
As referenced above, KSI has put together a solid track record as an amateur and beginning professional fighter. In addition to his brawls with Paul (one loss and one draw), he has earned amateur/exhibition victories over the likes of Joe Weller (TKO), another entertainer/fighter in Swarmz (KO), and Luis Alcaraz Pineda (KO). With most of his fights ending by way of KO or TKO, it would appear that the British YouTube star has found a way to win his fights on his terms with his devastating power moves. What has been more impressive has been his ability to tangle with fighters of all calibers, like professional boxer Alcaraz Pineda who KSI defeated via a third-round knockout after dealing with Swarmz earlier in the night.
With this bout scheduled to be the fourth event under Misfits Promotion since its inception, it could be an excellent showcase opportunity for KSI to show he can also deal with former MMA fighters as well. Ring rust will also not be a factor here as the British fighter last fought in August 2022 and has maintained a strong training regimen per multiple outlets.
Squaring off against KSI will be FaZe Temperrr aka Thomas Oliveira, who is a relative unknown in the boxing world but is an imposing fighter. Standing at 6-foot-4, and clocking in at the light heavyweight class, FaZe Temperrr is a southpaw fighter who maintains a 1-0 pre-fight record. Temperrr is coming off a dynamic performance against Overflow at the MF & DAZN: X Series 003 event last year. Per reports, the Brazilian combatant is primed and ready to dethrone KSI as the “king of crossover boxing.” The original CEO of the FaZe clan, and a member of the group since he was 16 years old, he has shown a remarkable drive to build his brand, which should help his short fight preparation against KSI.
Prediction: This bout should certainly be worth the price of admission, but look for the more seasoned boxer in KSI to take the victory in Wembley Arena.
