The NFL season has been building up to this game, its thrilling climax better-known as the 2020 Super Bowl. San Francisco 49ers go into Super Bowl 54 as slight underdogs to the Kansas City Chiefs, but we believe the 49ers will walk away with their sixth Super Bowl.
2020 NCAA Basketball Futures Betting: Michigan St Favorites For Third Title
The 2020 college basketball season is about to get underway which means it is time to make our predictions for the 2020 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Current college basketball odds make Michigan St the +650 favorites, although many predict a Kentucky (+750) victory. Here are our thoughts.
Online bookmakers have already published their college basketball odds for the 2020 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship and they make interesting reading. Michigan St are the +650 favorites with Kentucky coming in a close second with NCAA basketball odds of +750.
- Michigan State are +650 favorites to win the 2020 NCAA championship. It would be only their third such victory.
- Kentucky Wildcats are +750 second-favorites. They have won the NCAA Tournament eight times but not since 2012.
- Reigning champions Virginia come in at +1400 joint fifth favorites with North Carolina
Will Michigan State Live Up To Their Favorites Tag?
Most sportsbooks have installed Michigan State as the overall favorites for the 2020 NCCA Men’s Basketball Tournament with odds of +650. The Spartans have competed in 23 consecutive NCAA tournaments, the fourth-longest streak ever and the third-longest active streak in college basketball behind Kansas and Duke.
Despite being one of the most active teams, Michigan State has only become champions twice, once in 1979 and again in 2000. They reached the final in 2009 but lost 89-72 to North Carolina.
Pundits from around the world are hyping up Michigan State and it is easy to see why. Their head coach Tom Izzo is one of the best coaches in the United States and has managed to get Michigan State deep in NCAA tournaments despite a lack of quality. This latest roster, however, is brimming with talent.
Cassius Winston, the team’s point guard, is destined for the NBA and destined for greatness. Winston received the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2019 as Michigan State progressed to Final Four. He has improved massively in each of his three seasons and should continue that trend in 2019-20.
It should be obvious that Michigan State are also favorites to win the Big Ten conference title. They have won it four times since 2012 and are currently +145 to win yet another title. A Michigan State victory in the Big Ten is as near to a lock as you will find this season, +145 is ridiculous value.
As for Kentucky, whose Vegas odds NCAA basketball of +750 make them second-favorites. The last of Kentucky’s eight titles came in 2012 when they defeated Kansas in a low scoring affair that finished 67-59.
Coach John Calipari has a wealth of talented individuals at his disposal despite the Wildcats sending more than their fair share of ballers to the NBA each year.
If it is not Michigan State that wins the 2020 NCAA Men’s Basketball title it will most likely be Kentucky. They have a superb defense and offense, ranking in the top 25 for both those categories.
Pick: Michigan State to win the Big Ten at +145 and to win the NCAA Men’s Championship at +650.
Are Any Outsiders Worth Betting On?
We have already ascertained that the title will be won by Michigan State or Kentucky, so it probably is not worth your time betting on anyone else. Duke (+1000) always start the season among the favorites, but they almost always seem to fail to live up to the hype.
The +1000 NCAA basketball odds with Bovada are just not long enough when you consider coach Mike Krzyzewski’s lost three amazing college basketball players to the NBA this season. Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish, and RJ Barrett were all top 10 NBA draft picks.
Duke has signed a trio of quality freshmen but it remains to be seen if they can fill the trio of big shoes left by the NBA bound players.
While we do not believe Duke has what it takes to win the NCAA Men’s Tournament, they are more than capable of taking down the 2020 NCAA Men’s ACC title. Bovada prices them at +275 to do this, with reigning national champions Kentucky priced at +400.
If you’re betting on the ACC title consider backing Louisville at +400. Louisville’s odds have shortened in recent weeks thanks to punters taking note of the fact they have a bunch of returning players.
Continuity is vital to success in the NCAA tournaments and Louisville has that. Throw into the mix Jordan Nwora, last season’s leading scorer, and you have the recipe for an ACC winning side. The +1500 for winning the Men’s Tournament just aren’t long enough to tempt us into backing them for the long haul.
