Who Will Win the 2019 NBA Playoffs? The Golden State Warriors?
The 2018-19 NBA regular season draws to a close on April 10th with the first of the playoff games beginning only three days later on April 13th. Although the NBA regular season is yet to finish, the like of Bovada have released their NBA Playoff odds, so now is the time to take a look at who we think will win the 2019 NBA Playoffs.

Every basketball fan in the world is looking forward to the 2019 NBA Playoffs, especially after March Madness, and the anticipation is growing with every game played.

How Many Teams make to the post season?

Sixteen teams make the NBA Playoffs and a handful have already secured their places in this exciting knockout tournament, which makes them the early favorites to win the 2019 NBA Championship outright.

  • The Golden State Warriors are -220 favorites to win the 2019 NBA Championship
  • The Milwaukee Bucks (+850) and Toronto Raptors (+950) are seen as Golden State’s biggest challengers
  • The Golden State Warriors are -375 in the NBA futures betting to win the Western Conference title
  • The Eastern Conference is a three team race between Milwaukee Bucks (+190), Toronto Raptors (+220) and Philadelphia 76ers (+255)
  • Having won the NBA Championship in 2017 and 2018, the Golden State Warriors are looking for their third consecutive title.

The 2019 NBA Championship Looks to be Heading to Golden State Warriors

Golden State Warriors are the hot favoites in the latest NBA Playoff odds after being priced at -220 by online bookmaker Bovada. To put this into context, the next shortest price is the Milwaukee Bucks with odds of +850, which seems to suggest the NBA Playoffs are a forgone conclusion.

It is difficult to make a case against the Warriors who are looking to lock up a third consecutive NBA Championship title. Any team that has Stephen Curry in it will always have a chance to beating any team in the world. Curry has a 43.5 three-point percentage throughout his entire career and averages more than 23 points per game.

But the Warriors are not only about Curry because the rest of their roster is packed with elite players such as Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.

The Warriors are beatable even if they are a fantastic team. They suffered their biggest defeat in seven years when they fell 126-91 against the Dallas Mavericks who were second-bottom of the Western Conference at the time. That said, the Golden State Warriors are the team to beat and are our pick to win the NBA Playoffs.

Can the Milwaukee Bucks or Toronto Raptors Cause an Upset?

NBA futures betting suggest that if the Golden State Warriors do not run away with the 2019 NBA Championship, it will be the Milwaukee Bucks (+850) or Toronto Raptors (+950) that steal their thunder and win the NBA playoffs.

The Bucks have enjoyed a remarkable season, one that saw them win the Central Division in the Eastern conference, their 14th such gong and their first since 2001. They locked up the title on March 22nd and know they need to hold onto top spot in the Eastern Conference to secure home court advantage for the playoffs.

Much of the Bucks’ potential success revolves around keeping Giannis Antetekounmpo fit because the Greek forward is having the season of his life when it comes to points per game (27.5) and rebounds per game (12.6) way above his career averages.

Toronto Raptors are one of the newer NBA franchises having been founded in 1995 but they have come of age in recent times having won four division titles between 2014 and 2018. Like the Bucks we mentioned earlier, the Raptors have excelled during the current season breaking their own records as the season progresses.

They recorded their 16th win on November 23 to break their franchise record of best start through 20 games befre reaching 20 wins faster than ever when they won their 24th game of the season on December 1st. On January 13th, the Raptors managed to score 140 points in a 140-138 victory over Washington Wizards, the most points they have ever scored.

This could be the Raptors’ best chance of NBA Playoff glory because they have reached at least the Conference Semifinals in the past three seasons, losing 4-2, 4-0 and 4-2 to the Cleveland Cavaliers each times, but the Cavs are not even in the playoff picture this campaign. +950 odds are available right now if you think the Raptors will win the NBA Championship.

The Best of the Rest

We already believe the Golden State Warriors (-220) will win the 2019 NBA playoffs and that it is the Milwaukee Bucks (+850) or Toronto Raptors (+950) who are most likely to be crowned champions if the Warriors fail, but there are a handful of teams in the mix who could defy the NBA playoffs odds.

The Denver Nuggets are priced at +1600, making them sixth-favorites, despite challenging for the Western Conference title. This is likely because through the 71 games, the Nuggets boasted of a 30-6 home record but a 19-16 on the road record. If the Nuggets do not win the Western Conference, they will not have home court advantage for the playoffs and that could be disastrous for them.

You can never fully write off the chances of Philadelphia 76ers or the Houston Rockets (+1400) simply because of their long histories. But like we keep reiterating, the wise money is going on the Golden State Warriors and nobody else outside of the Bucks and the Raptors. Here are the top 10 teams for the 2019 NBA Championship

  • Golden State Warriors: -220
  • Milwaukee Bucks: +850
  • Toronto Raptors: +950
  • Philadelphia 76ers: +1000
  • Houston Rockets: +1400
  • Denver Nuggets: +1600
  • Boston Celtics: +1800
  • Oklahoma City Thunder: +4000
  • San Antonio Spurs: +5000
  • Portland Trail Blazers: +5500
