Golden State Warriors Still Favorites for NBA Playoffs

Golden State Warriors Still Favorites for NBA Playoffs
The 2019 NBA playoffs are underway and the most recent NBA Playoff odds suggest that it is the Golden State Warriors who will walk away with the title of NBA champions. Sixteen teams compete in a best-of-seven elimination tournament and the Golden State Warriors are the team to beat having won the champion in both 2017 and 2018.

NBA futures betting for the 2019 NBA Playoffs puts Golden State Warriors as -400 favorties to win the Western Conference title and -230 favorites to secure the NBA Championship, although they have to navigate their way past the L.A. Clippers in their opening playoff fixture.

  • Golden State Warriors are the clear -230 favorites to go all the way and win the 2019 NBA Championship
  • Houston Rockets are the +525 second-favorites to win the Western Conference
  • Milwaukee Bucks look set for the Eastern Conference with +125 odds
  • It is the Bucks who are the second-favorites to win the 2019 NBA Playoffs with futures odds of +500
  • Golden State Warriors will face the Houston Rockets if both sides win their opening best-of-seven playoff games

Dominant Golden State Warriors Looks Set For Another Title

Bookmakers rarely get their NBA futures betting wrong which is why everything points towards the Golden State Warriors winning yet another NBA Championship. No matter how many teams make the NBA playoffs, the Golden State Warriors are always going to be the favorites to come out on top because they are an exceptional side.

The Warriors face LA Clippers in their opening NBA Playoff games and they look like they could go unbeaten against them if Game 1 is anything to base judgement on. Warriors ran out 121-104 winners in that opening game, with the amazing Stephen Curry running the show with 38 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists. These sides have faced each other eight times now with both sides tied on four wins each. This is because the Clippers ran out 4-3 winners in the 2014 Western Conference First Round. Do not expect a similar result in 2019. In fact the Warriors are -1400 to win Game 2 against the Clippers and are sill -115 favorites with a -13.5 spread! Should the Warriors bulldoze their way past the Clippers, it is looking likely they will face the Houston Rockets who demolished Utah Jazz 122-90 in Game 1.

The Rockets won the last playoff series against the Jazz, running out 4-1 winners in the 2018 Western Conference Semifinals. It is just a shame that this is one of the better Rockets sides in recent years but the bracket pits them against the Warriors should they defeat the Jazz. This means even the +1050 NBA futures odds for Rockets winning the NBA Championship are far too short for us to wager on them.

Milwaukee Bucks Are The Biggest Threat To a Warriors Victory

Milwaukee Bucks are the biggest threat to the Golden State Warriors when it comes to the NBA Championship title. The Bucks, +500 with Bovada to win the Championship, got off to a flying start in Game 1 against the Detroit Pistons, running out 121-86 winners in what was a dominant display.

The Bucks never trailed in that game and were 43-points ahead at one stage. This has lead to odds of -1700 on a Bucks victory in Game 2 and -115 available if you give the Bucks a -115 spread in the game. Conversely, the Detroit Pistons are now a massive +12500 to win the Eastern Conference and the +20000 second-longest to win the NBA championship. Bucks have been pitted against the winner of the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics NBA playoff series.

The Celtics an out 84-74 winners in a relatively low scoring affair and it was only because Celtics outscored the Pacers 26-8 in the third quarter that they eventually won the game. Should the Celtics progress against the Indiana Pacers and take on the Milwaukee Bucks in the Second Round, they will have history on their said as they have won 20 of the 34 playoff games against the Bucks, including the past four series, including a 4-3 win in the First Round series last year.

The Denver Nuggets and Toronto Raptors Lose Their Game 1

Denver Nuggets (+2400 to win the Championship) and Toronto Raptors (+1200) both lost their first round games and have seen their odds of a Conference victory shortened significantly. The Nuggets fell to a 101-96 defeat at the hands on San Antonio Spurs (+4500) while a three-pointer from D.J. Augustin with only 3.4 seconds remaining saw Orlando Magic (+6000) win 104-101 against the Toronto Raptors in what was something of an upset.

A 54-28 record during regular season placed the Nuggets second in the Western Conference and they should have enough in them to turn things around against the Spurs. This would mean they face the winners of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers which Thunder should win despite falling to a 104-99 defeat in Game 1.

The Raptors lost to the Magic but should definitely be able to reverse this in the next few games. The Raptors won 16 more games than Magic during regular season and are a better team, they just need to hold their nerve to set up what would be a Second Round fixture against the winners of the Philadelphia 76ers (+2600) and Brooklyn Nets (+8000).
