NBA Season Overview: Both Los Angeles Franchises To Dominate
There looks to have been a monumental shift in power in the NBA for the coming season with the Golden State Warriors not being the favorites in the 2019-20 NBA Championship odds race. Instead, both franchises from the City of Angels are the top two teams to look at!
Unprecedented player movement in the NBA has thrown the championship race wide open and we could be in for one of the most exciting seasons in living memory.
Golden State Warriors have dominated the NBA for what seems like forever, but the latest NBA betting odds from Bovada suggest their reign is over and both the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers ar set to shine.
- Toronto Raptors created NBA history last season but are +3300 for a repeat performance.
- Los Angeles Lakers are the +300 favorites to win the NBA championship this season.
- The other team in LA, the Clippers, are priced at +350 and are second-favorites.
- Golden State Warriors have been the team to beat for the past five season but they are +1000 to win the championship this year.
- Milwaukee Bucks (+600), Philadelphia 76ers (+750) and Houston Rockets (+850) are fancied outsiders.
Can the Los Angeles Lakers Actually Win the Championship?
Los Angeles Lakers go into this season with the title of favorites for the championship with NBA 2019-20 odds of +300.
it is an amazing transformation because the Lakers finished fourth in the Pacific Division and 10th in the Western Conference with a 37-45 record.
So why the huge difference for this season? It’s simple: LeBron James. James is one of the NBA greatest ever players and one who, if fit and fully focussed, can single-handedly carry the Lakers to glory.
James struggled with horrible injury problems last season but is fully recovered and will form a devastating partnership with Anthony Davis.
The Lakers have been busy in the offseason completely restructuring their roster. The +300 odds suggest they are clear favorites or the NBA championship. They are not and our free NBA picks suggest not backing the Lakers for glory.
Will Kawhi Leonard Lead the Clippers to Glory?
The LA Clippers have never won the NBA championship but that could be all set to change after they were announced as +350 second-favorites for the title.
The Clippers won 48 games during regular season last year, more than anyone thought, and a six-game battle with Golden State Warriors showed how far the Clippers had progressed.
Amazingly, the Clippers pulled off a major coup when they signed reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard. Leonard is an incredible player who seems destined for the NBA Hall of Fame.
He was the main man as the Toronto Raptors became the first side outside the U.S. to win the NBA Championship. Leonard could do exactly the same thing for his new team-mates.
Clippers also signed Paul George after essentially dumping all their assets to the Golden State Warriors. The Leonard / George combination is the most deadly wing duo in the NBA this season and it is difficult to see how any other team will cope with them.
Fans of the Clippers will be hopeful of experiencing glory, but is their roster deep enough?
The Best of the Rest
Both Los Angeles teams may be the overwhelming favorites to win the 2019-20 NBA Championships but we have a sneaky feeling that they just won’t be able to get the job done.
Odds of +300 for the Lakers and +350 for the Clippers just seem too short to yield any serious value.
Instead, we’ll be looking at the Milwaukee Bucks (+600), Philadelphia 76ers (+750) and the Houston Rockets (+850).
The Bucks haven’t won the championship since 1970-71 but the Eastern Conference is as wide-open as it has ever been. Throw into the mix a 60-win season that saw them win the Eastern Conference and it could be time for the Bucks to shine.
76ers have a fully fit Joel Embiid for the first time in forever and the Cameroonian has bags of ability. We’d argue the 76ers have one of the most rounded rosters in the NBA and this could be the key to finally getting the job done at the business end of the season.
As for the Rockets, any team with James Harden in it has a chance of competing with the very best the league has to offer.
