MLB Playoffs 2019 Odds: It's All About the Astros!

MLB Playoffs 2019 Odds: It's All About the Astros!

Houston Astros go into the 2019 MLB playoffs as the overall favorites to win what will be their second World Series with MLB playoff odds of +210.

Can the Astros go all the way and win their second World Series in three years, or will of the chasing pack emerge victoriously.

  • Houston Astros are the +210 favorites to win the World Series
  • The Astros also have MLB playoff odds 2019 of -115 to win the American League Pennant
  • Los Angeles Dodgers are -115 to win the National League Pennant
  • Twenty-seven times World Series winners New York Yankees are +425 to win this World Series
  • The Los Angeles Dodger has lost back-to-back World Series

Astros Look Set for Their Second World Series

Houston Astros won the 2017 MLB World Series and look set to get their hands on the trophy again this year.

Astros already had super short MLB odds to make the playoffs and now they are here it is time to turn on the style and get the job done. The Astros are +210 favorites with Bovada to win the World Series.

Teams from the American League have won the last two World Series and MLB playoff odds Vegas suggest it will be three in a row for American League sides.

In Gerrit Cole, Zack Greinke and Justin Verlander, the Astros have a formidable rotation trio.

Offensively, there is little to moan about with the Astros as they are ranked first in the batting average, first in the lowest strikeout rate, and third for number of home runs.

Third Baseman Alex Bregman is for sure an MVP candidate and we cannot see any weaknesses in this roster.

The only thing that springs to mind is the team has no lefty in the bullpen, but that's hardly something to worry about.

Whoever finishes ahead of the Astros in the MLB playoffs and World Series will become MLB's latest champions.

Can the Los Angeles Dodgers End Their Losing Streak

Los Angeles Dodgers fans must be frustrated. They have seen their team progress to back-to-back World Series only to fall at the final hurdle each time and be on the losing team.

Dodgers lost 4-3 to the Astros in 2017 and 4-1 to the Boston Red Sox last time out. Will it be third time's a charm for LA fans?

The Dodgers have MLB playoff odds Vegas of +275 to win the World Series. They have been in incredible form, winning a franchise-record 106 games during the regular season and securing the NL West championship.

Like the Astros, Dodgers have a superb batting line-up with Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy and Joc Pederson combining for 118 home runs.

While the Dodgers have been excellent overall, there have been some blips on the final stretch. Kenley Jansen improved in the final stretch but Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw have been far from stellar.

That said, the Dodgers have such strength in depth that they should reach another World Series, it's just they are likely to lose again if they come up against the Astros, which looks likely.

Are the New York Yankees Worth a Punt?

You should never write off the New York Yankees even if they have +425 third-best odds for MLB World Series glory.

No franchise in the history of the game has appeared in more World Series than the Yankees who have won a record 27 titles and been on the losing side 13 times.

The Yankees last reached the World Series in 2009 when they lost 4-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies.

An impressive 103 wins to 59 losses in the regular-season show the Yankees are still a force to be reckoned with and they are definitely worth a few cheeky dollars on winning the World Series at +425.

Yankees have to overcome the Minnesota Twins in the Division Series, although that should not be a problem. The Twins are +1600 to win the World Series, only the Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays have longer odds.

The only other MLB team to look at realistically is the Atlanta Braves who have betting odds of +750 for World Series glory. The Braves have won the World Series three times, but not since 1995.

Their last appearance in the final was a year later when they lost 4-2 to the New York Yankees.

Braves lost 7-6 against the New York Mets in their final regular season fixture of the season, which is far from ideal preparation for their Division Series games against the St. Louis Cardinals.

We wouldn't bother backing the Braves, however, as this World Series is likely to be contested by the Astros and the Dodgers, with the Astros coming out on top once again.
