March Madness Futures 2019

March Madness Futures 2019
The most exciting time in college basketball is almost upon us. That’s right folks, March Madness runs from March 19 to April 8 and sees 68-teams take to the court in a single-elimination tournament to determine the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 champion for the 2018-19 season. Who do you think will come out on top once March Madness is confined to the history books? Does your pick match our experts’?

Now is the time to make your March Madness bets because all of the futures odds are in and at the longest they will be until the tournament starts on March 19. Sixty-eight teams are competing for the NCAA Division 1 championship title this year and it is Duke who are the overwhelming favorites for glory with odds of +210 with the Blue Devils’ nearest rivals being Gonzaga and Kentucky at +900.

  • Duke Blue Devils are the +210 favorites to win the 2019 March Madness
  • UCLA used to dominate March Madness winning 10 titles between 1964-75. They’ve not won since 1995 and are +25000 to win in 2019.
  • Last year’s March Madness champions, Villanova, are +5500 outsiders to retain their title
  • Virginia are fancied by many sports bettors and can be backed at +950
  • Tennessee are +1100 to win the 2019 March Madness despite having never reached the Final Four

Before you make any March Madness bets, make sure you read our experts’ picks and predictions and use them along with your own research to see if you can pick out a winner. The March Madness games are about to start!

March Madness Odds

Making March Madness bets is a tradition for many and it is a great opportunity to make some money betting on college basketball because so many match take place in such a short period of time.

All the money is going on pre-tournament favorites Duke Bue Devils at the moment, which has shortened their March Madness odds to +210. These odds are more than four-times shorter than the 67-other teams competing in this year’s competition.

Gonzaga and Kentucky are currently priced around +900 with much-faniced Virginia at +950 the only other team under +1000.

Once you look outside these four colleges, the March Madness odds range between +1100 for North Carolina and an obscenely long +30000 for Loyola University Chicago.

The top 10 March Madness favorites are:

  • Duke +210
  • Gonzaga +900
  • Kentucky +900
  • Virginia +950
  • North Carolina +1100
  • Tennessee +1100
  • Michican +1200
  • Michigan State +1400
  • Nevada +2200
  • Kansas +2800

March Madness Picks & Predictions

The best of the March Madness picks has to be the shot-priced favorite Duke Blue Devils who are in the hunt for what would be their sixth March Madness title. Duke last won the title in 2015, although the did reach the Elite Eight in 2018, falling 85-81 at the hands of Kansas.

Duke have the third-best offense and fourth-best defense nationally and are coached by Mike Krzyzewski who has already won five championships.

It is free throws and three-pointers that let Duke down. Duke have only made 68% of their free-throws and have the worst three-point shooting since the 1986-87 season with only 31.6%. That said, Duke has a wealth of talent and if they can find their range with shooting, nobody is going to be able to live with them, making the +210 betting odds a steal.

Gonzaga (+900) should be there or thereabouts even if forward Killian Tillie has not recovered from a torn ligament in his foot. Tillie may be a key play for the Zags, but Gonzaga were one of the country’s best teams during November and December and even defeated Duke without Tillie in the team.

Expect some high scoring games when Gonzaga take to the court because they have the country’s best offense but the 21st most efficient defense. If they can continue to outscore their opponents, Gonzaga have every chance of winning their first March Madness title.

If you are the kind of sports bettor who thinks history plays a major part in a current team’s chances of winning a major title you should avoid Tennessee like the plague. History certainly is not on Tennessee’s side, but the +1100 betting odds for March Madness look too good to turn down thanks to the Vols having two All-American caliber forwards at their disposal in Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield.

Tennessee have never reached the Final Four and have only ever reached the Elite Eight once before. Head coach Rick Barnes has only reached the final weekend once and that was back in 2003 and his teams’ last seven NCAA tournaments have ended in the first or second round.

That said, Tennessee are in the top-10 for free throw shooting and have the third-highest share of field goals, but they also have the 39th-ranked defense and that could be their undoing. If Barnes can tighten the defense and supply Williams and Schofield with the ball, the Vols could cause a major upset this year.
