Major League Baseball Future Bets 2019
Baseball fans around the globe are gearing up for the 150th MLB season in history that sees the first pitches thrown on October 1st. The World Series betting odds suggest the 2019 MLB is going to be a four horse race between Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros, New York Yankees and the L.A. Dodgers, but can one of the outsiders cause an upset?
MLB World Series 2019 Schedule starts on October 22nd
Boston Red Sox are +600 joint favorites to win the 2019 World Series
L.A. Dodgers, last season’s World Series runners-up are +700 fourth-favorites to win the 2019 World Series
- St. Louis Cardinals could be worth a punt with World Series odds of +1400
- L.A. Dodgers have won the National League pennant for the past two seasons and computer simulations have them nailed on to win a third consecutive pennant.
Can Boston Red Sox Retain Their Title?
What can we say about the current Boston Red Sox franchise that has not already been said? They are an incredible team and ran out worthy World Series winners in 2018 and are probably the team to stop during the 2019 MLB season.
Red Sox won the American League East division title for the third consecutive year, finishing eight games ahead of the New York Yankees thanks to an amazing 108-54 (.667) record. It was the first time since 1946 that the Red Sox surpassed the 100-win mark and they went on to break their own franchise record of 105 wins set back in 1912; the 108 wins is the second highest in MLB history, trailing only the 116 won by the 2001 Seattle Mariners.
World Series odds suggest the Red Sox have every chance of retaining their title with betting odds of +600 to win the 1019 World Series and +290 join favorites with the Astros and Yankees to win the MLB American League.
The Yankees have strengthened their roster with the signing of Troy Tulowitzki but the Red Sox just have far too much talent to not win the American League pennant and probably the 2019 World Series.
Can the New York Yankees, Houston Astros of L.A. Dodgers Win the 2019 World Series?
The NY Yankees have won 27 World Series titles and are likely to be the Red Sox’s nearest rivals when it comes to this season’s MLB World Series.
Fans of the Yankees will be pleased with the signing of shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and will hope the former Colorado Rockies and Toronto Blue Jays player can put his injury woes behind him and challenge Didi Gregorius for the shortstop position throughout the season with Gregorious set to miss the early MLB schedule through injury himself.
Yankees are also rumoured to be in the hunt for Manny Machado, a free agent, who is one of the best defenders in any position to have played professional baseball. The race is on to sign Machado and if the Yankees manage to add him to their roster, the +290 on them winning the American League and +600 for winning the World Series looks a steal.
The Houston Astros are many bettor’s pick for 2019 World Series glory and thousands of people are betting on them winning the American League at +290. Astros have finished with 100-wins in their previous two seasons, can they make it a third consecutive 100-victory season?
Astros may suffer from the losses of Charlie Morton and Dallas Keuchel but can call upon the likes of Kyle Tucker and Forrest Whitely this season. Keep a close eye on the Astros because they are legitimate challengers for the World Series.
You can never write off the Dodgers despite losing Yasiel Puig to the Cincinnati Reds. Puig was joined on the Reds’ roster by Matt Kemp, Alex Wood and Kyle Farmer. The return of Puig on Jackie Robinson Day on April 15 will be one of the most eagerly anticipated games on the MLB schedule.
St. Louis Cardinals Could Cause an Upset
The St. Louis Cardinals have been World Series winners 11 times in their history but have not lifted the famous trophy since 2011. They are likely to be in a two horse race with Chicago Cubs for the NL Central title and are +750 to win the National League and +1400 to be the World Series champions.
While it is most likely the 2019 World Series winners will be the Red Sox, Yankees of Astros, give some consideration to the Cardinals if only because of the signing of Paul Goldschmidt from the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Goldschmidt has won the National League Hank Aaron Award, the Gold Glove Award, the Silver Slugger Award and being the runner-up for the MLB Most Valuable Player in 2013 and 2015 and could just be the player the Cardinals need to mount a serious title challenge.
