2019 Formula 1 Futures Betting Odds: Hamilton and Mercedes to Win

2019 Formula 1 Futures Betting Odds: Hamilton and Mercedes to Win
The 2019 Formula 1 schedule sees the 10 teams compete across 21 Grand Prixs between March 17th and December 1st, starting in Melbourne Australia and finishing in Abu Dhabi. Lewis Hamilton was almost faultless during the 2018 season, winning 11 of the 21 races and qualifying in pole position in 11 times, despite his car being slower than Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel over one lap for the majority of the season. Hamilton secured his fifth Drivers Championship and his second consecutive title. Should Hamilton win th 2019 Formula 1 Drivers Championship, he will only be won title away from matching the long-standing record of seven titles set by the legendary Michael Schumaker.

The 2019 Formula 1 season looks set to be one of the most exciting yet with Lewis Hamilton gunning for his sixth Drivers Champions and Ferrari looking to end Mercedes’ dominance in the Constructors Championship. It should be an exciting year for bookmakers and for the sport and the Formula 1 odds suggest it should be a two-horse race between Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.

  • Lewis Hamilton is the +135 favorite to win the 2019 Formula 1 Drivers Championship
  • Mercedes are the -118 favorites to win their sixth consecutive Constructors Championship
  • The Red Bull team has switched to Honda engines for the 2019 season and have looked strong during testing
  • Youngster Charles Leclerc is +550 third-favorite to win the Drivers Championship. He will race for Ferrari this season
  • Lewis Hamilton has won the Formula 1 Austin Grand Prix six times, including four consecutive years between 2014-2017

Lewis Hamilton set for sixth world title

It is difficult to look past Lewis Hamilton winning what will be his sixth world title and his third consecutive Drivers Championship during the 2019 Formula 1 season. The Formula 1 odds of +135 puts him narrowly ahead of arch rival Sebastian Vettel, who is priced at +150 before the opening race, but this is definitely Hamilton’s title to lose.

With 11 victories in 2018 and only finishing off the podium four times, and one of those was a retirement due to a fuel pressure problem, Hamilton was superb and fully deserved both his title win and his 88-point winning margin. Hamilton is a phenomenal driver, one that will go down in history as one of the greatest of all-time. Before the start of the 2019 Formula 1 season, Hamilton has raced 229 times, won 73 Grand Prix, been on the podium 134 times, qualified in pole position in 83 races and set 41 fastest laps. Incredible.

Can Sebastian Vettel stop Lewis Hamilton’s dominance?

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel is the only man who is going to get anywhere near Hamilton this season, although he is probably going to fall short once again. Vettel finished 88-points behind Hamilton in 2018 and it is hard to see how he can bridge that gap, despite this season’s Ferrari looking rock solid during testing.

Vettel has four world titles having won them consecutively from 2010 to 2013 when racing for Red Bull. It will be interesting to see how his partnership with new Ferrari driver Charless Leclerc pans out; it will either spur Vettel on or could be an unwelcome distraction as Leclerc is an up and coming driver who could steal the limelight from Vettel.

It has been eight Grand Prix since Vettel found himself finishing in first-place so he really needs to up his game if he is to mount a serious challenge for what will be his first title in six years.

Check out the rest of the drivers championship futures.

  • Lewis Hamilton: +135
  • Sebastian Vettel: +150
  • Charles Leclerc: +550

  • Lando Norris: +30000
  • Lance Stroll: +50000
  • Robert Kubica: +50000

Mercedes should win the Constructors Championship

Mercedes has won the Constructors Championship for the past five seasons and there is no reason why they should not make it six in a row in 2019. Bookmakers are pricing Mercedes as 118 to win their sixth consecutive championship, with Ferrari their closest rivals with Formula 1 odds of +155. Only Red Bull, at +450, have betting odds under five-figures!

It may be worth waiting to see the outcome of the opening if you want to bet on Mercedes, or betting before the first race if you want to back Ferrari. This is because Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari has a superb record at the Australian Grand Prix with four wins, while Ferrari have a record six victories in the constructors championship. Should Vettel and Ferrari continue that rich vein of form in Australia, bookmakers may lengthen the odds on a Mercedes victory over the season and shorten the Formula 1 odds for Ferrari.

Both the drivers and constructors championships may already be decided by the time the Formula 1 Austin takes place as it is the 19th race on the calendar, but if not, it is worth noting Lewis Hamilton has won six out of the last eight United States Grand Prix, with Mercedes dominating proceedings. Here are the full constructors championship betting odds.

  • Mercedes: -118
  • Ferrari: +155
  • Red Bull: +450
  • Alfa Romeo: +25000
  • Racing Point: +30000
  • Haas: +35000
  • Renault: +50000
  • Toro Rosso: +50000
  • Williams: +100000
