Chicago Fire are a Major League Soccer team based in Bridgeview, Illinois. The team is named after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, and was founded on the event’s 126th anniversary in 1997. In their debut season, Chicago won the MLS Cup and U.S. Open Cup double. They went on to win further U.S. Open Cups in 2000, 2003, and 2006, and got their hands on the Supporters’ Shield in 2003. More recently, Fire have struggled massively in the league, as consecutive disappointing seasons suggest.  [+]

Fire missed the playoffs in 2013 on goal difference to Montreal Impact after a 14-13-7 record, and 2014 was even worse as the Fire set an MLS record for the number of draws when their season ended 6-10-18, resulting in a ninth place finish.

As if that wasn't bad enough, the Fire finished bottom of the Eastern Conference and bottom of the MLS overall in 2015 after a club record 20 losses in a season (8-20-6), thanks in part to failing to win away from home once (0-12-5).

Things didn't improve in 2016, as Chicago were once again the bottom feeders of the league. Fire accumulated only 31 points in 34 games, the only team in the league to average below a point per match.

How To Win At Chicago Fire Betting

The Chicago Fire are a team going through a transitional period, which gives you opportunity to make some money betting in games involving them.

The Fire are nothing short of terrible on the road. They won a single match of 17 on their travels, the worst reecord in the Eastern Conference. Surprisingly, it wasn't the worst away record in the league. Portland, who didn't manage a single away win, take that dubious honor.

Chicago were strikingly better at home, but dropped too many points due to draws. They tied eight home games and amassed 26 of 51 points. It's a pretty good return but not in comparison to some of the best home teams in the Eastern Conference.

Chicago also endured a miserable season at both ends of the pitch. Fire conceded the second most goals, 58, in the entire leage. Only Orlando, who conceded 60, allowed more. Although hard to imagine, Chicago fared even worse offensively. The team from the Windy City scored 42 goals in 34 goals, the least in the conferene.

From those stats it's tough to decipher whether to generally back the over or not. You're better off, due to their defensive frailties, backing the over more often than not. But we suggest you take a more advanced look into the analytics to make an educated decision.
