Lately, the New York Islanders have been doing things a bit differently. They posted back-to-back 100-point seasons in 2014-15 and 2015-16, something the franchise hadn't done since 1980-81 and 1981-82, the second and third seasons of the club's run of four straight Stanley Cup titles. The Islanders also made the playoffs in successive seasons for the first time since a three-year run from 2001-02 to 2003-04. Then the Islanders went out and did something the team hadn't accomplished since the spring of 1993 - they won a playoff series, beating the Florida Panthers and Jaromir Jagr.
The Islanders are still a long way from being the team that dominated the NHL in the first half of the 1980s, but at least they are showing promise of a better future.

How To Win At NY Islanders Betting
The Islanders have a new outlook, a new attitude and in 2015-16 they also got a new home. The Isles moved from the stodgy, out of date Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum into the state of the art Barclays Center, relocating from the outpost of Long Island to deepest, darkest New York in Brooklyn.
While they kept their handle, there was a previous NHL team that hailed from Brooklyn. In 1941, the New York Americans relocated, in an esoteric sense, to Brooklyn, renaming themselves the Brooklyn Americans even though they continued to share Madison Square Garden in Manhattan with the New York Rangers.
The Brooklyn Americans lasted just once season before the franchise folded. While the Islanders aren't playing brilliantly at home, it will never be that bad.
